Several women have come forward in interviews to state that they were physically and verbally abused by Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable. The women, including Cable's ex wife and an ex girlfriend, both say that Cable was regularly abusive. One of Cable's ex wives, who declined to be interviewed, cited verbal and physical abuse as reasons in official court divorce documents. Read more: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4613549

Nono

Assuming these statements by these women are true, and I didn't see any reason to disbelieve the accounts in the video, then I have no respect for Cable whatsoever. There is absolutely no justification for a man to put his hands on a woman in an abusive and/or threatening manner.

It will be interesting to see what action, if any, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell takes in light of these revelations.
Yea seen the ESPN segment and it's very very disturbing to hear the least. Like you said, if it's true about what the women are saying about Cable then he definitely needs to get professional help. I really can't respect a man who puts his hand on a female (unless she has a weapon and is out to get him). Usually anything related to the Raiders is somewhat funny but this is a very serious and troubling matter.

Who would have thought the Giants would take a tumble...they didn't even show up for the game. The Eagles had this game from the start...as for my Cowboys, they were on point and took care of business. Romo was almost perfect (1 fumble) and Roy Williams actually did something!

Big game next Sunday...I can't wait big grin

A big game indeed. I think the Cowboys need this game more than the Eagles. The Cowboys are certainly capable of winning a game up in Philly, and if they do, that'll give them a 6-2 record at the regular season halfway point. With the second half of their schedule being not so easy.

The Atlanta Falcons loss to the New Orleans Saints last night, 35-27, and despite the Saints not playing their best, only reaffirms my belief that the Falcons will not make the playoffs in 2009. Assuming the Falcons win vs Washington this week they would reach a record of 5-3 after eight games, a precarious position for any team striving for the postseason.

The Falcons remaining schedule after next week's home game against Washington, which is a game I think Atlanta will win:

11/15-@ Carolina -loss
11/22-@ NY Giants -loss
11/29 -Tampa Bay - win
12/6-Philadelphia Eagles-loss
12/13-NO Saints -loss
12/20-@ NY Jets -loss
12/27-Buffalo - win
1/3/10-@ Tampa Bay -win

That's a 3-5 record for the Atlanta Falcons in the second half of the 2009 season. Even if the birds were to pull off a win somewhere in there where I predict they'll lose, they'll still finish no better than 9-7: nine wins will not IMO be enough victories to secure a wild card playoff spot for an NFC team this season. winky

You and I are thinking the same way about our teams Pack. The Cowboys current record is 5-2. And honestly, they could easily be 6-1 or even 7-0. I based my prediction on the Cowboys missing the playoffs with a final record of 9-7 or 8-8 on factors like Phillips coaching, the no T.O. factor, etc. I also based my prediction on the second half of their schedule. Which again, is tougher this season.

9 Sun, Nov 8 @ Philadelphia -loss
10 Sun, Nov 15 @ Green Bay - win
11 Sun, Nov 22 Washington - win
12 Thu, Nov 26 Oakland - win
13 Sun, Dec 6 @ NY Giants - loss
14 Sun, Dec 13 San Diego - loss
15 Sat, Dec 19 @ New Orleans - loss
16 Sun, Dec 27 @ Washington - win
17 Sun, Jan 3 Philadelphia - win

Now, based on these current predicted wins and losses, that will give them a final record of 10-6. The only thing is, in todays NFL, anything can happen when the game is played on the field. They could actually finish 10-6, or no worse than 9-7 or 8-8. Which of course, may not be enough to make the playoffs. sadlyicon2

Yes, Russ....Indeed Vince will start for the Titans Sunday against the Jags...do you think it has anything to do with the $$$$? Vince is due a roster bonus of $4.25 million and carries a salary-cap number of $14.21 million in 2010. Think they might need to see what he is capable of and I am sure they damn well wont their monies worth. Besides, all the injuries of key players, what do they expect. His rookie year he almost single handedly led his team to the playoffs after the team started out winless (led by Collins of course), his second year his team made the playoffs, and the first game of his 3rd year he was injured. Fisher has wasted a lot of time that could have been used for Vince to develop back into the player that he was and still is. Remember his college stats? He reached a win/loss record as a starter of 30–2, ranking him #1 of all UT quarterbacks by number of wins. His .938 winning percentage as a starting quarterback ranks sixth best in Division I history. Career passing completion percentage is the best in UT history, 60.8%. During his career at Texas (2003-05), Young passed for 6,040 yards (No. 5 in UT history) and 44 TDs (No. 4 in UT history) while rushing for 3,127 yards (No. 1 on UT’s all-time QB rushing list/No. 7 on UT’s all-time list) and 37 TDs (No. 5 on UT’s all-time rushing TDs list/Tied for No. 1 among QBs). It only seems logical with stats like that, given the opportunity, ONLY GOOD things can come from the decision to start him. Fisher said that he would not be flip flopping between QB's. So, from that I am assuming that it will be Young for the rest of the season, (just as long as the knee holds up anyway.) The Titans have some pretty tough games ahead of them. I hope that Vince is the QB to lead them to some victories.
Well, he gave the Titans their first victory of the season. I think Vince could do well. All they need to do is just let him play like the Vince Young at Texas and in his first two seasons in Tennessee. Let him play like the cool, improvisional QB he was and still can be, and then build around him. You agree Pack? And MD? (short for Melodelicious... hehe)

Yes, Russ, I think that with Vince being the starting QB, we will see more wins. You can't have the stats he had at TX and not be a potential...GREAT QB. Vince just needs to get his feet wet, so to speak. They need to let him play his game. Let him lead the team to many victories and then give the shaft to Fisher. Good coaches and a good QB (along with a TEAM) that is what it is all about. FOOTBALL! Gotta love it.

Uh uh. No matter what happens for the rest of this season, Jeff Fisher needs to remain the head coach. He deserves it. He deserves a chance to fix what has gone wrong this season. Injuries and such have really taken its toll on that team this year. I don't think coaching is the problem.

Since legislation was recently passed in California that green lights construction of a new stadium in Los Angeles, there have been rumblings around the league that several current NFL teams may eventually relocate to Los Angeles. One of these teams is the Jacksonville Jaguars, who first entered the NFL in 1995 as an expansion team. The Jags made the playoffs in only their second year of existence(in 1996) and posted an impressive 14-2 record in 1999, the pinnacle of the franchise's success, before being defeated at home in the AFC Championship game by the Tennessee Titans, 33-14. Since 1999 and that conference championship game loss the Jaguars have been on a decline and have seldom made the playoffs. Their current head coach, Jack Del Rio, himself a former player and star linebacker in the NFL, has managed to produce only a 54-52 W-L record since he took over the head coaching duties in 2003.

Empty seats and a huge decline in the number of season ticket holders have resulted in a huge number of Jags home games being "blacked out" by the local CBS affiliate in Jacksonville(FLA).

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars survive, and flourish once more, in this north Florida city? Here's an article that weighs in on the situation, including comments by Jags owner Wayne Weaver: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=garber_greg&page=hotread8/Jacksonville/Main

I hope the Jags can remain in Jacksonville. I've visited this city: it's a fun city and it would be a shame if Jacksonville lost its only professional sports team. winky

Miami Dolphins LB Joey Porter, seldom at a loss for words, has once more inserted foot into mouth with recent comments that NE Patriots QB Tom Brady receives preferential treatment from referees in games. Read more, including various Patriots players reactions to Porter's comments: http://espn.go.com/boston/columns/patriots/blog/_/post/4630053/name/reiss

Washington Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall is planning to file a formal complaint against various members of the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff after an incident during the Falcons-Redskins game today. After "Skins safety LaRon Landry delivered a late hit to Falcons QB Matt Ryan(who was running out of bounds into Atlanta's sideline), several Falcons players and coaches got into with Hall, who was trying to pull Landry away from the Falcons sideline. Falcons head coach Mike Smith also appeared to get animated as well and had to be restrained by a Falcons player. Read more: http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-falcons/hall-plans-to-file-190110.html

I watched this game. Hall, who conceded that LaRon Landry's hit on Ryan was "probably unnecessary", may have a legitimate beef with the Falcons, at least from what I saw on replays. The Redskins CB, who was cut by the Falcons in 2007, didn't endear himself to his former teammates here after spending most of this week whining about how he was unceremoniously cut by the Atlanta Falcons. That release might have something to do with Hall's tackling skills which, judging by the way he tried tackling Falcons RB Michael Turner, appear to have been acquired at the Deion Sanders School For NFL Tackilng Basics. winky

Well being from Louisiana, I am a Saints fan. I just found a very interesting post on Facebook from the Saints fan page.

Give credit to the Dallas Cowboys, who won on the road in Philly. I can only hope the Eagles are able to return the favor in Dallas.

As of now, I see the Philadelphia Eagles as an NFC wild card contender and a possible NFC East division winner. Obviously they'll have to win in Dallas now for that to happen.

I have seen a tendency from Eagles QB Donovan McNabb to have a couple of great performances followed by stinkers. Unless McNabb can play well more consistenly, the Eagles may find themselves lucky to make the NFC playoffs as a wild card.

The Tennessee Titans won yesterday on the road against the SF 49ers. Hopefully the Titans can continue to win some games while QB Vince Young gets the on-the-job training he needs to take over the permanent QB duties at Tennessee.

I took a few things out of this game.

1. My Cowboys are making my season prediction look bad. (which is good??)

2. I like their version of "The Wildcat." Or as Jerry called it during Training Camp/Preseason, "The Razorback."

3. The NFC is so down right now, that I kinda agree with Pack. I still think the Eagles will win the NFC East, but if the Giants don't rebound, and the Eagles slip here and there, the NFCE title could be a three team race. (DAL, PHI, NY) and/or the two Wild Card teams could be the Falcons, and maybe, just maybe, my Cowboys? (let's see what they do in the month of December)

4. That Cowboys defense is getting better as the season progresses.

5. That Eagles defense needs to blitz alot to be effective.

6. The Eagles wasted their time signing Michael Vick, and needs to dump the Wildcat. And speaking of Vick...
