Boldin is becoming a typical diva WR...he wants a new contract even though he is getting paid pretty decent. This guy is jealous of his own teammates success...it's downright disgusting. Boldin is a solid WR (great after the catch) but he is not a top 5 like the guy who plays across from him. He should have been more focused about winning the Super Bowl instead of getting paid.

Also, Lions president Tom Lewand is clear that this won't turn around the team's image unless the team improves on the football field

The Detroit Lions are in negotiations to sign QB Matthew Stafford and to do so before the NFL draft on 4/25. If they cannot sign Stafford then Detroit has another player in their sights. To see who it is click the link: http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/04/22/lions-have-deal-with-curry-just-in-case/

Looks like former Jacksonville Jaguars standout WR Jimmy Smith is not having a quiet and uneventful retirement, if this article is any indication: http://www.fanhouse.com/news/nfl/jimmy-smith-charged-with-drug-possession/442058

I sat down yesterday and watched the NFL Draft, Rounds 1 and 2, from start to finish.

Early observations:

-the Detroit Lions drafted well. How long it takes for this draft, and the work of new head coach Jim Schwartz, to take hold remains to be seen. QB Matthew Stafford, from all indications, is a guy the Lions front office can build a team around and Detroit also picked up TE Brandon Pettigrew(from Oklahoma State), who is considered the top all-around TE in the draft.

-the Philadelphia Eagles picked WR Jeremy Maclin(Missouri), an explosive playmaker and considered the best WR of the draft not named Percy Harvin(Florida). I look forward to watching Maclin enjoy multiple touchdown games at the expense of the Dallas Cowboys. tongue-1

-the Dallas Cowboys didn't have a first round pick, that in and of itself something I liked. sickko

-the Atlanta Falcons drafted DT Peria Jerry(Ole Miss), a quality pass rusher who should immediately help the Falcons pass rush, which was practically non-existent last season from any player not named John Abraham. The Falcons also got a quality S in William Moore(Missouri). I watched this guy workout at the NFL combine. He looked impressive and is a big hitter.

-the Tennessee Titans selected WR Kenny Britt(Rutgers), a guy who lacks some of the blazing speed of a Percy Harvin but who is physical, has good hands, is fearless at going over the middle to catch balls and runs disciplined routes.

An analysis of the draft's thirty two(32) first round picks: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9482768/2009-NFL-draft-pick-by-pick-analysis

Hopefully the Atlanta Falcons can find a value pick at CB in the third or fourth round.

A sad thing for sure...talk about a freak accident. I've heard of micro bursts before but did not know they were capable of that kind of power and destruction...definitely was an eye opener. I wish all those affect by this well...

The drama surrounding the possible return of QB Brett Favre to the NFL, specifically the Minnesota Vikings, appears to have reached a conclusion: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/05/07/favre.ap/index.html?eref=si_nfl

Assuming this article is accurate, I am in agreement with Brett Favre in that he should stay retired. winky

I was sad to see this happen. Microbursts are no strangers to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I remember when one of those things took down an airliner on approach at Dallas/Ft. Worth Intl. Airport in the mid '80s that killed almost everyone onboard. My wife flew in and out of that airport around the same time that severe weather was down there. Safe to say that I was praying for her and others on her flight(s) during that time. The good news from this is that there were no casualties and a trust fund has been set up for Rich Behm.

Well, Brett says that he's still retired. But I would not be surprised at all if he comes back and plays for the Vikings. The motivation? He'll get the chance to beat his former team, the Packers, twice next season.

Is it just me, or was this the most boring, lack of exciting players, NFL Drafts we've had in a long time?

In another instance that has convinced me that the Cincy Bengals WR formerly known as "Chad Johnson" has all but lost his mind, this player now has a new name that will display on his jersey: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-bengals-ochocinco&prov=ap&type=lgns

Brett needs to know that the game is rapidly slipping away from him. Just stay retired and enjoy the rest of your life. He is quickly going from great NFL QB to NFL Diva....
