Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

I believe first and foremost they simply believe in leading a peaceful existence.

I'd agree with that in most instances, but it's been my extreme misfortune to meet up with a pet or two of family members that hate everybody and everything! freak out My youngest brother has a cat that when he first got it as a kitten, adored me, one month later I went to visit and since then, the cat has hissed each time he's seen me and mean this cat has a veyr loud and unnerving hiss. freak out

My Uncle and his ex wife used to have a doberman and when you knocked on their front door, you'd hold on the doorknob for dear life, until a family member could get the dog put into the back room. Once you were in the house, they'd let the dog out and he was fine, but if they joked around, which my cousin did, once, by slapping me, the dog lunged for my throat....I never went back, until the dog was gone.

Nobdoy was mean to the cat or dog, but they just don't/didn't seem to warm up to people and that's a weird feeling when you see an animal staring right through you. freak out

I see what you mean about the animals staring right through you thing, if you are referring to the way they seem to sense fear or discomfort. The owner of the doberman may not have ever taught his dog to behave in that manner, But Im guessing it may be something that came down the bloodline. Investigation into the animals ancestry could be a good idea, or possibly evaluating how the parents of the dog were treated or how the previous owner treated the dog, if there was a previous owner. It seems Dobermans are often used as guard or roving type animals so it may have inherited aggressive tendencies from a relative who was used for that sort of work.

I believe very strongly that how an animal is treated is a big factor in how they react or behave towards humans. Heiney Butt has always been loved and babied, he loves to be held by me, but only tolerates being held by Carol and hates to be touched much by anyone else, which I find a little odd, but I;m told cats are often like this.

Cats seem to me to be alot more snooty and less people oriented than dogs in most cases. Often cats will respond to just one person or whoever may be feeding them. Their sense of independence and free will seem to be alot more heightened than most dogs, and, as a result they seem less inclined to depend on humans.

I'm a cat lover but I do agree with your above points, Josh. (By the way, I dig your Zone Fighter avatar.)

I really agree with this. HB was purchased for Carol, since she had to leave her beloved cat behind with her family, when she moved up here from Florida, but he seems to cling to me a lot more than her. I told her, it's because I'm with him 24/7 and I feed, water and snack him, most days. He knows who to love the most! ;)

Yeah, cats can definetly be choosy. My girlfriend's dog, Memphis, was her first dog and she had him before she met me, so understandably, he wasn't too thrilled for the first few months of my presence after we moved in together. The other dogs don't really seem to have any specific preference of her or me, but he really disliked me until I earned his affection after many dog walks. tongue-1
