Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Oops...you probably don't get that network down in Atlanta. It stands for Canadian Broadcasting Company. They've been airing Godzilla/Toho movies for the past few weeks. They had the original, subtitled version of GOJIRA on a few weeks back, then they aired the dubbed version of GIGANTIS. RODAN was next and I don't remember which movie is on this weekend.

Really looking forward to getting GRA on DVD when the Godzilla box set arrives. I know these movies will be dual-language. Does this mean we'll be getting Gigantis, The Fire Monster as well?

Yes. Click the link for a nice summary and synopsis of the Classic Media DVD of Godzilla Raids Again(1955): "Godzilla Raids Again" at DVDtalk.com

Well, you've been busy with school and your upcoming transition into the workforce. The Classic Media "Godzilla" DVDs are the best treatment I have ever seen, VHS or DVD, of Godzilla films, and that's saying a lot because I have the Madman Entertainment Region 4 DVD of Gojira(1954), itself a stellar treatment of this classic old film. I also have all of the "Simitar" Godzilla DVDs, these also very good. Classic Media has done a superlative job so far, and if you've seen the covers for their upcoming, June 5th R1 DVD releases of Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster(1964) and Invasion Of The Astro Monsters(1965), I think you'd also be very impressed with these as well. Here's an image of what the next two CM R1 "Godzilla" DVDs look like(cover art).

Those are absolutely gorgeous. I'm shocked, in a good way, that they went with the INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER title as opposed to MONSTER ZERO. Can't wait to finally get GHIDORAH, 3H-M on DVD. It's one of my personal favorites.

Box set? When is the box set coming out? And what's going to be in the box set??

The Box set is being advertised as a Fall, 2007 release. Nothing more specific, yet. There are rumored to be additional extras in the Box set that are not part of the individual DVDs. Speaking of which, just a rehash of what will be in the Box set:

Godzilla Raids Again(1955)
Mothra Vs Godzilla(1964)
Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster(1964)
Invasion Of The Astro Monsters(1965)
Godzilla's Revenge(1969)
Terror Of Mechagodzilla(1975)

I would expect the Box set to be as superlative as the individual DVDs they have released so far. thumbs up

Just curious, how do you feel the Cowboys have done so far in the free agency period? My take: they've done pretty well.

I appreciate the discipline Trent. That said remember you can talk about whatever you want here at MF if something comes up off the top of your head, regardless of the thread. :)

Here's an interesting promo still for the film Godzilla Raids Again(1955). Note that Godzilla's head more closely resembles the one used in Gojira(1954) and that Anguirus' back armor plating appears to be partially separated from the rest of it's body in this image. Click the thumbnail to view:

I tried to resize the image a little, to make it comparable to a mini-wallpaper. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->

Ah yes, the infamous Angilas maquette. Amazing how much a design changes when it goes from concept to final form.

Yea I always wondered why Anguirus' back armor plating wasn't attached to his back in those shots. Just seemed really strange to me...oh well...still one of my favorite movies :D

I went to Best Buy today to pick up yet another STAR TREK DVD and guess what popped out at me? You guessed it...GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN. I was like "sweet!" and I picked it up along with my Star Trek movie. Nice packaging on the GRA DVD. Finally I have one of my favorite Godzilla movies on DVD. Can't wait to hear the commentary by Steve Ryfle. nod thumbs up

Dan, was CM's Mothra Vs Godzilla(1964) on the shelves at Best Buy as well? I thought I read you post at PX sometime ago that you have the SIMITAR DVD Godzilla Vs Mothra, something of a misnomer as the actual movie on this stellar disc is the AIP Godzilla Vs The Thing, and that you are satisfied with this one and would not be buying the new CM disc. I have the SIMITAR disc also but I really enjoyed the CM disc of the 1964 original Japanese version also. bravo clap

Yep, Mothra vs Godzilla was there also but, as I stated in the past, did not buy it because I'm pleased with my Simitar version.

So do I, though it ranks much lower on my "like" barometer than many of the other "G" titles. What makes this film so great for you? Just curious. Mr Green

I don't know exactly...I do like the B&W feel...the monster fighting isn't silly or 1-sided...I did use to watch this movie a lot when I was younger so there is some nostalgic value to it too.

Now I get it. I didn't know you had seen this movie before. You like this movie much the way I love the 60's Godzilla films, which I still do today, even more than the "G" films made in the 90's and beyond. Aside from the occasional lack of high speed filming I also liked the monster battle sequences in GRA-for a movie made in 1955, they were very well done. Speaking of black and white kaiju films, ever seen Varan The Unbelievable(1958)? I was thinking you might like it also.

I didn't really like Varan that much, I thought it was rather boring but it had its high points to it. The ending really let me down to Varan but I will watch it again because the only time I watched this film was at work when I use work security. So it's only fair I give it a 2nd chance
