In 1966 Twentieth Century Fox released Fantastic Voyage. The story: an ailing scientist, dying from an inoperable medical condition, has one hope for survival: an elite scientific and medical team, shrunk to microscopic size, enters his bloodstream in a desperate attempt to save his life, made more dramatic by the body's natural defenses that the team must contend with. I like this film. I consider it a sci-fi classic. The cast is solid: Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch(looking more cosmopolitan in this movie than in One Million Years B.C.=always beautiful tongue-1 ), Donald Pleasence, and Edmond O'Brien. The special effects are terrific. This movie is out on DVD as a Fox double feature, paired with 1961's Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. The film is letterboxed(2:35-1 aspect ratio) and the DVD includes an interactive menu with a theatrical trailer, subtitle options(English, Spanish), and audio options(English surround, English mono, French mono). Discuss the film and DVD release here. All replies welcome. :)

As mentioned in an earlier post, I love this film. I first saw it on a weekend afternoon at my grandparent's home and I was completely enthralled with the film. Just one of those films that totally entertained me and I still have a lot of fun watching this effort. The cast is great, the effects are very well done and the story is most interesting. Think I may pop in my DVD and watch this, now. :D

The initial "miniaturization" scene, where the team is first reduced in size, in several stages, is IMO an absolutely awesome sequence. :)

On 6/5/07 Fantastic Voyage-Collector's Edition will be released by retailers, and will have some very nice extras. This is the first time this film has been given "stand alone" treatment on R1, and it looks good. Click the link for more info: Fantastic Voyage Collector's Edition DVD

Yes. The Warner Cult Classic DVDs are all coming out on 6/26/07. I am resigned to the fact that June of this year is going to be armageddon , financially, for my debit card. freak out

I may try and sell off some of my 'doubles' on DVD. I have several James Bond discs, a few Universal classic horror discs and if I can sell those for even a small amount, I'll take that money and put it towards these upcoming releases.

I used to sell quite a bit on eBay, but not sure I'll take that route. I had offered the discs to Carol to use as trade-in value at Game Stop, EB Games, etc, but she said she doesn't receive enough for the discs and I might better try and sell them for the money to purchase more DVDs. Not really sure where to sell or attempt to sell these, but if I want some of these June releases, I'd best get serious about it! freak out

You could try Yahoo! Auctions or Lycos(www.lycos.com). Lycos has a buy/sell page. I would think MSN would also. The catch: you have to register at these sites, i.e. be a registered member, before you can use their services. :)

Thanks, Lee, I'll definitely check into those options. I do have an account with Yahoo, so perhaps trying their auction site would be worth checking into.

Yahoo! is, IMO, very service oriented. I know. I have a domain, "Monsterland", that is part of a web hosting plan I have with Yahoo. When I first inquired to Invisionfree tech support about a web hosting service for my domain they recommended Yahoo, as IF and Yahoo have, as I was told, a fairly close working relationship. I have had two questions regarding my domain setup, both of which I was ably assisted by a Yahoo customer service rep (by phone) each time. They are friendly, helpful people. thumbs up

That's very good to hear. I wasn't always impressed with Yahoo, when it came to questions regarding some of their services, they more often than not, offered answers that had absolutely nothing to do with the problems you were experiencing or the questions you'd asked. Sounds as if they have changed their ways, so I will definitely look into their auction services. thumbs up
