The NBA Finals are set: Orlando Magic Vs Los Angeles Lakers

Both teams are playing well right now. In my mind I believe the Lakers are the slightly better team and have more playoff experience. Still, I like how Dwight Howard went slap off on the Cavs in game six of the East Finals for 40 points. If Howard has a monster series vs the Lakers the Magic win. If the Lakers can limit the damage Dwight Howard can do they win.

I think it's Orlando's year. Prediction: Magic win series in seven games. shifty eyes2
It was sweet watching the Magic knock the Cavs off their high horse. They were beaten by a better team and it showed. I'm shocked that everyone is surprised the Cavs lost, if people would have noticed the Cavs had a losing record against legit title contending teams.

As for the NBA Finals...if the Magic can steal a home game early they might be able to be the Lakers. They can't go home down 0-2 though because it will be over. As much as hate to say it...the Lakers are going to win the title vomitard

It's about a minute left in the NBA Finals and the Lakers are firmly ahead. The Magic had plenty of chances to take control of the series but let them fall through their hands. That's not to take away what the Lakers accomplished this season by any means. I'm just glad Lebon is sitting home watching the Finals like me....congratulations to the Lakers 2008-2009 Champs.

I'm not a Lakers fan but they played well and deserve the title.

Hopefully Kevin Garnett and return to form next year, as well as the Boston Celtics, and the Celts can take charge of the East again. winky

Well I guess I'm the one Lakers fan around here lol...I'm more relieved than anything after the frustrating ass kicking we got from Boston last year. Pau Gasol finally learned not to choke in the finals, Lamar Odom decided to actually try, and Derek Fisher still missed most of his shots but at least made them when it counted. Of course Kobe played like a workhorse as always. Congrats to Phil Jackson on his tenth title.

Minnesota Timberwolves GM(and head coach) Kevin McHale is out of a job. McHale's release was announced today by the T'Wolve's new president of basketball operations, David Kahn. McHale, himself a former stellar NBA player and star forward with the 80's Boston Celtics, which won three NBA titles during that decade, could not duplicate the success he enjoyed as a player as GM of the Minnesota Timberwolves. I never understood Odom...very talented player but it seems like he doesn't care or something a lot of times and appears mediocre despite his talent. It will be interesting to see who stays and who leaves the Lakers.

Things haven't been the same in Minny since that season KG took that team to the Western Conference finals. It's like after that season that franchise has been stuck in a quagmire of chaos. Sad to see McHale out of job but this franchise needs a fresh person in the saddle...

It seemed like ever since that Joe Smith fiasco they were just cursed. I don't know if it was karma or something but they sure ended up paying the price in the long run.

Well I'm a firm believer in karma and you might be right. But whatever the reason, I don't see that franchise turning it around anytime soon...

Lately there has been a lot of talk on ESPN and internet blogs about the declining chances that the San Antonio Spurs will win another NBA title. The Spurs chances, to me, just went up with their impending trade for the Milwaukee Buck's Richard Jefferson: http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/9721070/Spurs-to-trade-three-for-Bucks%27-Jefferson

With the acquisition of Jefferson and Manu Ginoblii returning to form after ankle surgery I believe the Spurs can return to being one of the top three teams in the Western Conference and an NBA title contender.

You could be right, but although I didn't really get to see any of Milwaukee's games this year (were any of them even televised?) I'm doubtful of how much of an impact Jeffereson could really make. The whole team is aging big time and even though Timmy still has some good years left, he really hasn't shown much of a spark the past couple seasons, almost like he's bored of basketball or something.

The player maneuverings continue this NBA season and this one's big: Shaquille O'Neal is headed to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A new health center scheduled to be built in Tulsa, Oklahoma will be named after former college/NBA star(and the late) Wayman Tisdale. Tisdale passed away on May 15th of this year at age 44 after battling cancer for two years.

I'm glad to see this center named after the late Wayman Tisdale. thumbz up

I've seen Jefferson play quite a bit when he was NJ Net. He is a solid all around guy. He has the ability to average 20 or more a game and is a good defender. He is 29 but he still has some good years left in him. I think the Spurs definitely improved with picking him up.

The whole Cavs and Suns trade seems like a wash. The Suns really didn't do anything besides get cap relief (which isn't a bad thing) but the Cavs didn't really upgrade themselves. They still have the same problems as last year's team and now they have to please Shaq's ego and find a way to keep him fresh.

Top prospect from Spain Ricky Rubio didn't show up to the Wolves press conference after being drafted:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Update-Ricky-Rubio-skips-Wolves-press-conferenc?urn=nba,173113

I remember reading somewhere that this kid didn't really want to play for the Wolves...personally I think he should shut the hell up and play basketball...but I wouldn't be surprised if they have issues with this.
