^It is Shogo Tomiyama's fault. He wanted to protect Goji, but he did it too tightly. What ever made him think "Another film like GMK would be bad" is the negative influence on him. If he came up with that himself, he is obviously not a verry good buisness man. But overtime, I bet that Japan is having the same reactions like us and Shogo is reading/listening.

I wish Toho will have another international script contest like in 1986 for the 1989 goji film.

I hope you're right. I only want the best for the Godzilla franchise.

I actually didn't know that that's how Biollante got made. Maybe I should get to work on that script after all. If they do another international script contest then I want to be ready.

If he came up with that himself, he is obviously not a very good business man
Without knowing very much about Shogo Tomiyama I would assume someone at Toho thought Mr. Tomiyama capable of being the CEO, otherwise he wouldn't be in that position right now. All executives of companies make mistakes, that is errors in judgment and other miscalculations. To err is human. There are no guarantees in life, G2K, other than taxes(when you enter the work force) and death(when you've reached the end of your life, whenever that may be). I've managed people and businesses and taken part in many a business project for previous employers. Most worked out well but some didn't. They failed despite research, preparation and planning. This happens with almost all businesses and Toho is a business. The Godzilla movies are just a small part of Toho's business. Some Godzilla films paid off and some didn't. My greatest concern is not that Toho will make another G movie I and a lot of other people don't like: it's that Toho will simply give up on trying to make any more of them. winky

^But have you noticed something? He became the president of Toho in 1999. All previous Godzilla films were PRODUCED by Tomoyuki Tanaka and Executive Produced by Shogo. When Tomoyuki was head, I bet he listened to the fans, for thoes films were for the most part successful including the heisie series. Shogo doesn't listen to the fans obviously. And he is still not a good buisness man because since Goji 1985, Toho went from Approx. 30 pictures a year to 5 or 6 films a year. He does not know good from bad nor does he listen to the fans.

Well I agree packmule. I hope that they will at least try to make more Godzilla films. Even if most of them are crap I'm sure there will be good ones, possibly great ones. And even the bad ones are usually enjoyable for those of us that just love to see Godzilla in a new movie.

Shogo doesn't listen to the fans obviously
Again, how exactly do you know this? To me this statement lacks merit because you are not someone who has worked for, or with, Shogo Tomiyama. You have not worked for Toho. You also have never met Shogo Tomiyama and are, IMO, in absolutely no position to assess this man's qualities, and faults, beyond what you have read about him in internet articles and that is hardly criteria by which to judge anyone, either personally or professionally.

Something to consider- if you are the CEO of Toho and are tasked with overseeing the production of Godzilla films you will have to deal with the following reality in Japan: that for years there has been a gradual decline in the popularity of Godzilla and other giant monster films. How do you make a Godzilla film that will turn a profit in such an environment? To me you would not make a G movie that only appeals to Godzilla fans but you would try to produce a movie that has a broader appeal to everyone, something that would, if successful, crank out better box office receipts. I believe this is what Shogo Tomiyama had in mind with Godzilla Final Wars. Was he(and his employer Toho) successful? The box office take of this film says "no". But he tried. That's all anyone can do.

You continue to make numerous spelling errors in your posts. Does that mean I'm going to assume you don't know how to spell and don't give the slightest damn about it? No. You've stated you'll work on it and I accept that. Toho will, inevitably I believe, try to produce another quality Godzilla movie and I accept that.

I know all about the criticism that Toho doesn't listen to fans. I believe there is some truth to this, to be sure.

The relationship between Toho and fans of Godzilla films is, IMO, a work in progress.

Is it going to be based on the goji split persona idea?

If I write it, I'd planned to incorporate something that's at least very similar. I hate to be spoilerly, but I'll give a basic idea of what I mean.

Personality 1: A Godzilla that is not interested in humanity, but is completely focused on a goal. He is headed towards Mt. Fuji for some reason. Anything that stands in his path is destroyed, but he doesn't purposefully go after humans. This is Godzilla on a mission. A Godzilla that is forced to temporarily suppress his anger toward humans in favor of a larger purpose.

Personality 2: An enraged and wrathful Godzilla. If you somehow manage to hurt Godzilla, then this is the response. Godzilla ignores his mission and becomes a force of destruction. Eyes possibly glow red. This Godzilla will purposefully seek out whatever angers him or even moves and destroy it. This is a sidetracked Godzilla. It's unknown how long he will stay in this persona.

On a more positive note, I got my Rodan/WOTG set today. Mr. Smiles
I finally got my set the other day at Best Buy, it's always nice to be able to walk right in and see it sitting on the shelf Mr. Green

Trent, I made mention of this earlier in this topic thread: you'll notice that the print for the original(Toho) version of WOTG(in Japanese language with Eng subs) is noticeably darker than the Americanized version. You'll probably find it necessary to adjust the "brightness" level on your TV if you watch the original Toho version of WOTG. winky

I actualy like the darkness. It gives Giara the impression of a Tyler Maine hair cut, which I like since I have long hair.
