I've watched both films (Rodan/WOTG) and put my impressions in on their respective threads in the "Giant Monsters" topic, if anyone is interested. I did notice the Japanese print of WOTG to be quite a bit darker.

I finally got my set the other day at Best Buy, it's always nice to be able to walk right in and see it sitting on the shelf
Trent, I made mention of this earlier in this topic thread: you'll notice that the print for the original(Toho) version of WOTG(in Japanese language with Eng subs) is noticeably darker than the Americanized version. You'll probably find it necessary to adjust the "brightness" level on your TV if you watch the original Toho version of WOTG. winky
Thanks, I'll probably get to watching it later this week.

Read it earlier today. Very cool. I hope we see more Godzilla documentaries as good as that one.

Are you going to pick this up?? I'm really wondering how much better this could look when compared to the last DVD release...I'm guessing they will be using the same prints. Is this worth dropping the cold hard cash for a film that might be only ever so slightly better picture quality? I'm conflicted at this point. v freak out

Yes. The improvement in picture clarity will probably be marginal at best, given the age of this film. Still, as a collector of Godzilla films, and owning a hi-def TV and Blu-Ray DVD player, I believe it's a worthwhile purchase. winky

Just to update my post, the Gojira Blu-Ray DVD will NOT include the Americanized version of the film, released in 1956 and starring Raymond Burr.

Only the original Toho version(from 1954), in Japanese language with English subtitles option will be included. The commentaries will be part of this disc, the same commentaries as those on the stellar standard DVD Classic Media re-release of "Gojira".

This marks the first Godzilla motion picture to receive the Blu-ray treatment. Unless you count the 1998 Emmerich/Devlin abortion, which I do not
very funny

The bigger question now is will the other Godzilla movies that CM released be far behind in terms of seeing a Blu Ray release? And if Sony will release any of their Godzilla titles to Blu Ray?
