When Kiryu drills into Godzilla's chest with the Hand drill, bit of skin went flying, Its a decent scene, but I personally think Toho should have added in some blood as well, they have done it before.

I'll agree that scene felt rather tame if you ask me....but then again as a horror buff I tend to like scenes more juicy

I think Toho could have done it well, if they did do it, when Godzilla got his Hand impaled by Biollante's vine, that was a really good effect, made 24 years before Tokyo SOS. B)

Neither do I but, admittedly, when I saw this particular scene unfold I expected to see some blood. I was surprised when I didn't. It made me think a bit, afterwards, about the difference in many of the Gamera films and Godzilla films. Gamera's blood, and the creature bleeding from wounds it got fighting opponent kaiju, were fairly commonplace, as were the bleeding of Gamera's enemy monsters. Not so with Toho's Godzilla films. Perhaps a philosophical difference between the companies that owned the rights to these two beasts, Daiei(and now Kadokawa) and Toho. Opinions on this, gentlemen?

Well, we did get blood in Godzilla vs. Gigan and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Maybe an answer from Toho to the Showa Gamera movies at the time?

I mean, did Godzilla survive his wounds and how bad was it. They never really show a good shot of the damage done.

Well in this film a clear plot point that the fact that Godzilla was still wounded and it was their best shot to finish him off......so I'd say after that Godzilla would be in a pretty bad way....but I doubt that would have finished him...but clear that he might be out of commission for a while

One of my problems with Tokyo SOS is that Godzilla still has the wound, I like it more when Godzilla's regeneration is quick, like in the Heisei era, when he gets injured and the wounds vanish like they have been fully healed, If I remember correctly Tokyo SOS takes place one year after the previous film, I think that Godzilla's wound would have been healed, I do wish Toho would remember Godzilla's fast healing and show it in action in the future. :)

IMO i think the millenium series could of done without this film, its was far to similar to godzilla x mechagodzilla, plus i found it didnt have a steady pace as the other films in the series. Im not saying it was a bad movie as im quite found of this but seeing Mothra die again was quite sad.
Listen kid, there are two things you didn't know about the Earth. One is me. And the other is... Godzilla

I wish they finished the Kiryu Saga... There was this one cool idea of earth being taken over by Kiryu and an army of Mechanical daikaiju...

Haven't I explained the Kiryu film's continuity? Toho and Toho-published books states that the Kiryu Saga consists of a bunch of films, mostly not related to Goji but still kaiju related. The continuity goes like this:

1954 - Godzilla appears (Gojira)
1956 - Rodan and the Meganulon appear (Rodan)
1958 - Varan appears (Varan)
1961 - Mothra appears (Mothra)
1962 - Maguma appears (Gorath)
1963 - Manda appears (Atragon)
1964 - The Dogora appear (Dogora)
1965 - Baragon, Frankenstein and the Giant Octopus appear (Frankenstein vs. Baragon)
1966 - Sanda and Gaira appear (War of the Gargantuas)
1967 - King Kong, Gorosaurus and the Giant Sea Snake appear (King Kong Escapes)
1970 - Gezora, Ganimes and Kamoebas appear (Space Amoeba)
1987 - Kamoebas appears (Space Amoeba)
1999 - A second Godzilla appears (Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla)
2003 - Godzilla Battles Kiryu (Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla)
2004 - Kamoebas corpse found; Godzilla battles Kiryu and Mothra (GMMG)

This is refered to fans and experts alike as the Kiryu Saga.
