Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla was the first "Godzilla" film you ever saw? Was it the older one, with King Seesar? Or the more recent one with Rodan and Baby G? :) |

I don't think so. "Minya" hatched from its egg-now Godzilla stepped up and became a "father" figure by protecting Minya from the mantises and from Kumonga(the giant spider) and also in teaching Minya how to use his oral heat ray. Godzilla also tried to provide some shelter to Minya from the cold temperatures(and snowfall) on Solgel Island at the end of Son Of Godzilla(1967). Minya wasn't really Godzilla's "son" but Godzilla certainly treated the smaller and younger monster as if he were. thumbs up |

I can agree that Son of Godzilla is actually a good film despite all the naysayers. I have a soft spot for this film and tend to watch it more often than many of the other great Showa films. Even though Minya can be annoying, they really managed to do a good job of making you feel sorry for him at the end of the film and the scene where Godzilla protects him from the snow is truly heartwarming. |

The sad, but hopefull music really sets the tone for that scene. All of the sets and locations for that movie were beautiful. I wonder where the locations were? |

According to the IMDB the water tank shot was done at Toho's stage nine, after a pool was set up there. Regarding the island sequences I took this from IMDB as well:

My impression of Son Of Godzilla(1967) has improved, considerably, over the years. Like other G films I took the time to read about the efforts that went into making the movie. Also, being able to watch this movie in widescreen and it's original Japanese language, courtesy of the Sony DVD, is a nice upgrade from my VHS(bootleg) copy of this movie in English dub. While I dislike seeing the wires used to bring the Kamikiras(mantids) to life, give credit to the Toho wireworks staffers who had to manipulate these wires, which was difficult and often problematical at best. I especially liked the rendering of Kumonga. The film's cinematography was fairly good and the cast had a lot of familiar faces I've grown accustomed to, and very comfortable with seeing. Beverly Maeda also looked very nice. http://youtube.com/watch?v=mOuVe05Izxw |

I can't say I was ever particularly fond of this entry as there were alot of things that made it more annoying then fun. I'll start off with the thinks I liked...well mainly some of the giant monsters that appeared in the one such as the Giamantis (can't remember Japanese name) and the Kumonga as they were a nice foe to see as they weren't people is monster suits and it made for a nice chance.....I also found the island setting also nice like in Godzilla vs The Sea Monster 1 year before...I'll also not that I found to funny how Minilla kept getting bashed in the head with rocks and Godzilla's tail (appeals to my sadistic sense of humor). The film's problems for me out weigh the good such as the sappy light hearted plot which for me is the biggest departure from the original...far to light for my liking as even at a young age I liking the darker approach. Other then Giamantis and Kumonga designs the creature effects looked poor Minilla looked awful (we he always does) and Godzilla probably looked his worst in this film mostly due to the face...kinda looked more like Kong on King Kong Escapes....Kong looked ugly as hell in that and same with Godzilla here.....and last but certainly not least Minilla annoys the hell out of me and particularly so in this film. The film's not a total disaster and has it's moments but I really can't say I liked it. |

Do you think Minilla was more annoying here or in the English dub of All Monsters Attack (Godzilla's Revenge)? Because for me, his English speaking in that film was one of the factors that made me dislike that film more than any other Goji film. I can barely stand it. |

Dude, first we agree on the Star Wars prequels and now this. I dig Minya...no I LOVE Minya. I think he's hilarious. Things like playing skip-rope over Godzilla's tail and his donkey laugh crack me up. I've loved that big/little brat since I was a kid. |

I guess I'm one of the few people that really like Minya. He's cute. One of the older Godzilla toys is a Minya Action Figure. He's a baby, how can you not like him, lol |
