Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

I do feel sorry for the cat, it also makes me wonder what happened to it since we don't see it again throughout the rest of the movie. winky

I'm thinking this poor cat went home and got cleaned up by its owner. Yes?

Yes. Rule of thumb: Cats and dogs in movies always live.

On the topic of feeling sympathy for getting "slimed" (btw, love that reference); one of the most chilling moments in that movie for me was during Godzilla and Hedorah's first encounter. As Godzilla swings Hedorah around and around and pieces are flying off, you remember the poker scene? Where the guys are just hanging out and in the next scene they're dead? The noise they make before you see them dead is chilling.

Another honorable mention: The people turning into skeletons; specifically the man falling off the construction tower. That's just plain creepy to me.

I've always thought that Hedorah, while certainly not the most intimidating looking monster, was arguably one of Godzilla's toughest opponents from the "Showa" era of G movies. winky

Me too. And I really liked the concept too. They tried something new instead of going with a traditional opponent, something they failed to do until Biollante, and have failed to do since.

Not sure if it was discussed. But when researching some Godzilla trivia.
(Why I was looking up Godzilla trivia at all is anyone's guess, considering I know enough already)

I came upon this quote from Yoshimitsu Banno.
Director Banno told a Japanese interviewer, "Hedorah's eyes were modeled on female genitalia…well, come on, vaginas are scary!"

All I ask is if this is a legit quote?
If so, wow. I'm speechless.
It explains This movie so much and so much about him as a Filmmaker. Wish he'd made more movies and given more freedom. As he has weird vision. Would've loved to see what more he'd have made.
Though that quote...

LOL!!!!!! That's great! I haven't ever heard that before, but I won't look at Hedorah the same way ever again.

We skipped Godzilla's Revenge for obvious reasons while watching the series with my buddy, but we may go back someday when we're bored. I kept having to tell my friend before we saw this that this is where the series gets weird. I don't think he realized just how weird this was gonna be. The amount of WTF's throughout this movie was just funny, and I kept having to tell him it gets weirder.
