Horror
Western
Drama
Wow! That was not an easy task! <_< The Western genre is probably the toughest for me to choose films from, as I don't go into a lot of viewings from that genre. As for horror, I could have chosen 20 films and it still would have been tough narrowing those choices down. The Drama genre is tough as well, because so many titles can fall into verious genres and sub-genres, but I'll stand by those choices....for now. |

The Remake of The Fog is way better. It is actually scary unlike the original. Thats just me and my opinion though  Anyway, I haven't seen many westerns and im unsure what films can be classified as drama, so I will just list my favorite horror films. 1. The Spiral 2. Ringu 0 3. One Missed Call |

Based on your comments I will probably look for this DVD used at Blockbuster now. I was also not particularly enamored with the original The Fog. It was okay, but that's about it. eyebrow |

I saw the original Fog at the Drive-In during a dusk till dawn night of fun films and I think seeing the original at the Drive-In definitely added to the enjoyment. It's not one of my top ten films, but I think it still is slightly better than the remake. The remake has a couple of very good scenes in it, though. |

With Easter approaching I get this DVD and The Ten Commandments(1956) out for viewing. I watch these two marvelous films every year on Easter sunday, a small tradition I have, thankfully, kept going without interruption since 1992. :) |

I do the same thing. :) I believe, The Ten Commandments has been an Easter staple on TV for as long as I can recall. |

It's funny, I may own the DVDs, but if any channel is good enough to air favorites of mine, I will usually make an effort to sit and watch the film on TV. I don't really care for it when you have 10,000 commercials or if the film has been edited to some extreme, but films like, Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments and The Sound of Music are usually safe to watch without fear of being edited. :) |

They are, if you're referring to Turner Classic Movies, which is respectful to these classic films. There was a time when AMC was also, but no longer, their broadcasts of these films pan n scanned and now including commercial breaks. If it sounds like I hate commercials it's because, generally, I do. It's one reason why I seldom watch TV(when I do it is for sports like college football or the NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL). If I come across a film on HBO2, which shows older, less recognizable movie titles, I will turn on my DVD recorder and throw in a disc. :) |

As some one who watches movies all the time I tend to "rate" the performances of actors/actresses in my head. I can tell you that are a lot of good performances that have been turned in by actors and actresses over the years. I think everyone would agree with that statement. What about those "unforgettable" performances that really left an impression with you? What are the acting performances that have made that impression? Post the actor's name and film. Feel free to elaborate as to why. All replies welcome. Thread starter-mine: 1. Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade(1995)-Set in rural Arkansas, we are introduced to "Carl", a mildly retarded man with a permanent, albeit benign smirk, drab clothes and a coarse, slightly hillbilly drawl who has been incarcerated since the age of 12 for killing his own mother as she fornicated with a man that was not Carl's father. Carl is released and travels, via bus, to a town where he befriends a small boy and his mom, works at a lawnmower repair shop(as a handyman/helper), and returns to his old ways with a blade in dealing with a hateful bully(played by Dwight Yoakam) who wants to marry the boy's mother. In my opinion one of the best acting performances I have ever seen. thumbs up |

Great question and a tough one to answer! I have so many performances that I have really been impressed by over the years, I'm not sure I can choose just one, but one performance that I think is absolutely wonderful is that of the late-great, Shelley Winters in the film, The Poseidon Adventure. Her performance as Mrs Rosen just floors me....she gained 35 pounds to take on the role and in my opinion, she outshined the entire cast and that cast was made up of fantastic actors and actresses. She was sweet, loving, kind, brave and took countless mean-hearted jabs from Mrs Logo throughout the film and her final scenes in the film were outstanding and can still reduce me to tears, no matter how often I've seen the film. There are so many other favorite acting performances I can choose, but at the moment, I'll stay with this one, although Peter Cushing's performance as Arthur Grimsdyke in, Tales From the Crypt is another favorite. Wow, the more I think about it, the more performances I want to add, so I'll end, here! :) |
