Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

MOTHRA is one of Toho's finest kaiju-eiga films. It's quality is second to none. Excellent visual effects, interesting story, solid characters, great musical score, and well-directed. Honda and Tsuburaya are at the top of their game here.

Guess I am one of the few that actually liked Titanosaurus' roar...my major gripe was how Titanosaurus went out without much of a fight in the end.

I also liked T's roar. And IMO Titanosaurus isn't dead. Je just fell into the water. He could be just passed out...

That's wishful thinking but I'm pretty sure the chest wound from Godzilla beam/flame/ray did it in very funny

No! The lies! And there was no chest wound. Sure, sparks came from the impact of Godzilla's beam but nothing serious...

So I guess we're to believe that Titanosaurus, receiving repeated blasts in the torso from Godzilla's oral beam, just decided to go for a casual swim after being hit with these blasts?

At the very least Titanosaurus was stunned and wounded, to some degree. winky

As you said Packmule:

Untill I see a whole busted into his body, he was just stunned and wounded and left for dead. But Titanosaurus would recover, just not as fast as goji.

I'm gonna have to say that with the humans and Godzilla teaming up on Titanosaurus, that dip into the ocean was his last.

I thought Titanosaurus was a decent Kaiju. He had a cool roar. No real amazing powers, but I liked the look. Just because he may have been killed in the Showa era doesn't mean he can't return in some other era.

And the people at Bandai said that Titanosaurus was unpopular with the fans, that's why they didn't make many toys of him.

Of all the kaiju that have appeared only once in previous films Titanosaurus is the one monster I hope we see again the most. I have always liked this monster's design. I would also like to see Megalon again as well, albeit in an upgraded form and looking more insectoid in appearance.

But he does have a cult following in America.

I was somewhat surprised to see him appear in the Godzilla Unleashed video game. There was a lot of talk of Biollante being included but Titanosaurus was somewhat of a surprise, needless to say a pleasant one. Hopefully he re-appears again later on film.

i agree with G2K master, HAVE ANY ONE BEEN LISTENING, he is alive. and he most likely did not want to fight goji again, DUH he is a peaceful creature, he was under mindcontrol. and he gets hit by a few hits, big deal, he lives in water!
i don't think he's dead.

After loving "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla I", I was a little bit letdown with "Terror of Mechagodzilla". But i still thought it was great. The Human characters are some of the most complex and tragic i've ever seen in a godzilla film. The only film i can compare
Spoiler: click to toggle
would be
Spoiler: click to toggle
from "The Matrix Revolutions".

Also, the final fight between Godzilla, Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus had a "If you cannot stop them tonight, then i fear that tommorow may never come" feel to it.

What a great way to end the Showa series in the 22 year of the Age of Monsters.

My Rating: 7.5/10
I love the B-Movies from the 50's, 60's and 70's. topper

Wow, that is an interesting connection, considering in TMR, neither Neo or Trinity are robot (not counting their plug in ability).

Actually, Neo is a cyborg (part man, part machine, like all pod-born humans), so he could theoretically connect to the Source wirelessly. Thus, Neo has real-world powers because he is wirelessly connected to the Source. That's why he could kill those 5 Sentinel's in The Matrix Reloaded.
I love the B-Movies from the 50's, 60's and 70's. topper

This is in my top 5 favorite G films. Why?
MECHAGODZILLA'S COUNTERATTACK is a severely underrated film in my opinion. Along with GODZILLA vs. HEDORAH, it is one of the few of the Showa era that comes close to the tone of the original (excluding Titanosaurus with it's annoying roar and bouncing).

The human backstory ends in tragedy, and Hirata Akihiko turns in another great performance as Dr. Mafune. And the score is one of the most glum I've heard from Ifukube Akira alongside GODZILLA vs. DESTROYER and the original.

I love this film. It's my favourite Showa film. I'm not sure why, thought, but it is. I think it's because I love seeing MechaG as G's villain, and this film doesn't disappoint. It doesn't disappoint me, anyway. I love the monster battles in this film even though Titanasarus is a bit of a wimp.

After a recent re-watch of this film after such a long time, my opinion on it has changed a little in areas... anyway I'm going to split up the things that I thought was good and bad about the film. topper

THE GOOD STUFF:

The Monster Suits (The Godzilla suit is an IMO improvement over the last two films because of the mean look, The Titanosaurus suit was well detailed/designed and MechaGodzilla is pretty much the same design-wise)

The Good Special Effects (IMO the miniatures, animation for Godzilla's Atomic Ray/MechaGodzilla's eye beams and other stuff was well done)

The Characters (Each characters works in this film and don't feel out of place)

Akira Ifukube Soundtracks (After four films without and one film with stock music of his, Ifukube returns and does his magic once again)

THE BAD STUFF:

The Slow Pacing (IMO quite a lot of the film drags)

The Obvious Wire-works (
Spoiler: click to toggle
)

The Ending Shot of Godzilla (
Spoiler: click to toggle
)

Overall, a great dark end to the Showa Series, overall I'll give Terror Of MechaGodzilla a 7.5/10. topper

Also, I now like Titanosaurus's roar. rock on
