I never got into British comedies but, at the risk of sounding gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), I used to watch ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS on Comedy Central about 10 years ago. I had a morbid fascination with that show for some reason. I think I'm probably the only straight American male who's seen every episode at least once. |

I remember back in '98, Super Bowl Sunday, a marathon of that series was on TV and I actually got into watching it, then, as I was too terrified to sit and watch my Broncos against the Packers for too long...in fear of jinxing them! In the end, I discovered a pertty funny series and saw my Broncos win their first SB! happy dance I do love these Britcoms I've mentioned in my original post, although, it did take a little time to get me into watching them. My Dad kept telling me about this series that was hilarious.....it ended up being, Are You Being Served? and once I sat and watched an episode, I was hooked and managed to hook my MOm and youngest brother on the series, as well. I don't believe I've ever heard of this series! There are still several Britcoms that I need to check out. |

Speaking of British comedy Kimi what do you think of Monty Python? I have seen two(2) "Monty Python" movies: The Holy Grail and Life Of Brian. I enjoyed both. Lots of laughs. Jimi |

I was slow to get into the TV series of, Monty Python, but I enjoy that more than I did as a kid and as for the two feature films you mentioned, I do enjoy them very much. They are quite funny! |

One of my favorite lines from a Monty Python film: "She turned me into a newt!. laughing smiley One of my favorite Brit comedians has always been Marty Feldman-you might recall that he was in a Monty Python show of some kind(the Hollywood Bowl) in the early eighties. This slightly cross-eyed, wacky man has had a long and colorful career. I also remember seeing him on the game show Hollywood Squares quite a bit. He was always hilarious. I remember Marty Feldman, I believe he also starred in the comedy film, Young Frankenstein. I'm slowly adding to my Britcom collection......I have the first 6 seasons of, Are You Being Served? as well as two seasons of, As Time Goes By and I was able to pick up the complete, Absolutely Fabulous collection, used at GameStop. |

You are correct. He played Igor. I saw Young Frankenstein(1974) with my father in the theater-we both thought it was hilarious..."Where wolf?...there wolf!". For this kind of movie, a comedic take on a classic horror film, I think Marty Feldman was perfect for the role of "Igor". thumbs up Image: Marty Feldman as "Igor"-from Young Frankenstein(1974) |

My Mom and a cousin her age to me and Mom's cousin's youngest sister, who was my age to the theatre to see this. I'm not sure if Mom took me, knowing I loved horror films at that age or what.....most of the comedy went over my cousin and my heads, I believe....I think Mom and her cousin were a bit surprised at some of the content, but they sure laughed their heads off! |

I have always enjoyed, Keeping Up Appearances, I think I enjoy Hyacinth's family...Onslow, Daisy and Rose the most, but the series was great fun. Fawlty Towers was quite funny, too, I need to see more of those episodes. Used to be every night of the week at 6:00PM or 11:00PM, our PBS stations would carry at least one Britcom and Saturday nights we'd see several hours of Britcoms, but not these days. thumbs down |

One British comedy I've found myself getting into alot of late is The Goodies, and incredibly outlandish humor a perfects example of how to do slapstick right.
