I love this film! The film has a wonderful cast with Catherine Deneuve being the central charachter in the film. Supporting Deneuve are; Ian Hendry, John Fraser, Patrick Wymark and Yvonne Furneaux. This was Polanski's first English language feature and was filmed in London.

Deneuve plays Carol, a young woman working as a manicurist in London and sharing a flat with her sister, Helene. Carol is sexually repressed and schizophrenic and when Helene leaves Carol alone in the apartment for a few days, when she levaes with her boyfriend, Carol's world begins to close in on her as she has dreams and hallucinations of murder and rape. She barricades herself in the apartment and spirals downward into a horrifying world of madness.

This is probably my favorite Polanski film, along with, The Fearless Vampire Killers and Macbeth. I highly recommend this film, if you haven't seen it, amazing how terrifying this film can be in basically a very small setting.

I have heard of this film, though I have never seen it. I did find a good review of the movie here

That is a good review of the film.....the DVD used at the top of that review is indeed the R1 disc, I have heard the R2 disc, which you have shown, from Amchor Bay is the disc to get. I may upgrade, eventually, but at this point in time, I am just thrilled to have this classic in my collection. I hear a lot of folks state that Tenant is one of their favorites from Polanski, but that never did too much for me. I like it, but certainly don't enjoy that effort as much as, Repulsion or The Fearless Vampire Killers.

Another excellent image, Lee!

I read in one review of this film that Catherine Deneuve has always been considered one of the world's most beautiful women. After looking over many of the images of her at Yahoo, photos of her from the 1960's and 1970's, I absolutely agree. thumbs up

Yes, I've heard the same thing and she certainly was gorgeous in the 60s and 70s, I don't believe I've seen any recent photos of Miss Denevue, but hard to believe she has lost any of her looks.

Great image of a Repulsion poster and that is in fact, the DVD cover for the R1 DVD release.

I have never seen this DVD in any Best Buy. I'm wondering, Kimi. if it might be in stock at a Borders, or a Barnes & Noble eyebrow

When I read about this movie I cannot help but think it would make a great double feature when paired with Rosemary's Baby(1968) thumbs up

Lee, the first time I found this DVD, it was at Borders, but sadly, the disc had come loose from the hub and when the folks at Borders opened it up, so I could see if the disc was damaged, it was scratched up pretty bad. I finally found this at FYE, but I would bet you may very well find it at a Borders or a Barnes & Noble.

I believe the below image is effective at portraying the main character's isolation, and descent into homicidal madness-note the use of shadows in the image-from Repulsion(1965)

Great image and I agree, the use of shadows and angles that Polanski often uses really adds to his films.

Here's another one...kind of eerie the way Catherine Deneuve's character peers at herself in the mirror... ghostly face

Great image and Deneuve gives an outstanding performance, in my opinion...you really can see she's slowly losing it in this image.
