We were in Best Buy on Friday and I was kind of zoned in on looking for certain titles and never saw some bargain-priced DVDs, but a friend living in South Carolina told me she and her husband were in BB on Saturday and they had some good titles on sale at only $3.99! :( I'm bummed that I didn't see this sale display or price cuts.....could kick myself for not doing a bit more wandering, but we also had three of my young nieces and nephews....ages 12, 11 and 10 and they were having fun playing the video games on display, so that kept me running around to keep an eye on them, as well.

I use DVD Profiler to catalog my DVDs and so Carol could keep track of what she owns, I also add her DVDs to my DVD Profiler....does anyone use an online catalog system to keep track of your collection? I'd love to see the collections of anyone willing to share. :)

I wasn't aware of this service. Can you provide a link? If you can then I will use this service to inventory my DVD library. Thanks Kimi. thumbs up

Here's the link, Lee....DVD Profiler

They offer a free download, but you may be limited to 600 DVDs in the free version, but don't quote me on that. They also offer a one-time fee of $29.95, which is the version I have and I love it!

There's another free catalog site:

DVD Spot

I also use this site, as well, but you can't add DVD-Rs to this database, as far as I can tell. I also use this, but DVD Profiler is my main catalog site.

What's the best deal you've ever gotten on a DVD or collection of DVDs? Was it a sale that gave you the fantastic price or perhaps an error in pricing? Perhaps you picked up a gem or two used that offered the wonderful price?

One of the best deals I've gotten was with the Godfather collection. My youngest brother and I were out one evening celebrating my birthday. He took me out to dinner and then we wandered into K-Mart and he grabbed the Godfather collection and handed it to me.....it was priced at $17.99! Skeet already had the collection and told me to take advantage of that price. I didn't even have the money on me, so Skeet went up to pay and of course, it rang up at wither $59.99 or $79.99 and Skeet pointed out the price sticker. The associate called a manager back and he took a look at the collection and saw someone at K-Mart had indeed mispriced the collection. The manager smiled at Skeet and told him that this was his lucky day. In the end, I got the collection for less than $20! Mr Green

I have picked up used DVDs on occasion and made out like a bandit with individual titles or boxsets....I used to be somewhat snobbish about purchasing used, but I've never had an issue with any used DVD purchase...knock wood. ;)

Wow! That's a great price. I have that same set--it's great! Too bad I couldn't get it for the same price you did.

I was thrilled to get the collection at that price, too! My brother may have been even more thrilled. I was a casual fan of Godfather II and III, but since picking up the collection, I very much enjoy those films, as well.

I consider the best "deals" in my DVD collection to be twofold:

1. The Midnite Movie MGM DVDs I have purchased, both as double features and single titles. All of them feature older classics from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, all are very affordably priced, at $15.99 or less, are packaged with good cover art, extras like trailers and/or still galleries, and the films are presented in their original theatrical format, i.e. their respective widescreen presentations(1.85:1, 2.35:1 or 16x9 anamorphic)

2. The Simitar Godzilla DVDs-though this video company is now out of business I still think what I bought from them merits this mention. I bought all of their Godzilla DVDs(Reg 1): Godzilla King Of The Monsters(1956), Godzilla Vs Mothra(1964), Godzilla Vs Monster Zero(1965), and Godzilla's Revenge(1969). All of these titles were offered by SIMITAR in their letterbox formats, all with great prints, extras like featurettes, still galleries, the trailers(of all these DVDs), and the GKOTM DVD also included a DVD-ROM option by which to access wallpapers and a Godzilla calendar(downloadable), among other things. The "G Vs Mothra" SIMITAR DVD was actually Godzilla Vs The Thing, the Americanized(AIP) version with the "Frontier" missile attack on Godzilla sequence included. This title, like G VS MZ and G's REVENGE, were all english dubbed, perhaps the only drawback to what are otherwise stellar DVDs. They were affordably priced at well under $20 each.

Isn't this also being released in a very special edition package complete with a Robby the Robot figure, as well? I have the original DVD release for this, believe it's even an old snapper, but I will be upgrading to this release, for sure. It's neat that they're including the other Robby the Robot film, Invisible Boy with this set, I actually taped that film off TCM a year or so ago!

Wow! This set might be a little over the top, but I think I might add this collection to my wish list. I love it when a classic is given this kind of treatment! thumbs up

So do I. I might get it, though my priority right now is the Universal Sci-Fi Ultimate box set(just announced)(on 9/19) and the CM DVDs(9/5 and 11/7). Also, in October Vol. 2 of the Ultraman(BCI) TV series and Season Two-Volume One Of "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea". All of those=about $150.00 so these will probably round out my purchases for the year. thumbs up

I suppose if I can't swing this purchase right away, I could add it to my Christmas Wish List. Excuse my ignorance, Lee, but what are the 'CM DVDs'? I went ahead in pre-ordered the Universal Sci-Fi Ultimate box set, because if this is indeed a Best Buy exclusive, I have no doubt, I won't find it, locally.

I'm trying to remember, but didn't, The Time Machine also receive a special edition release like this, way back? Seems some of these ultra-special editions often slip under my radar.
