Art Clokey of Gumby fame also directed a series for the Lutheran church back in the early 60s. The series followed the exploits of Davey Hansen, his dog Goliath and Davey's family....Dad, Mom and little sister Sally along with Davey's friends.

I can remember back in the early to mid 70s, waking up early on Saturday mornings and rushing downstairs to watch two episodes of, Davey and Goliath. Each episode was only about 15 minutes long and while the series was based on religion, it wasn't anything that was forced down your throat and the episodes never felt 'preachy'.

I recall the series also had a few 30-minute holiday specials as well and I remember being at my Grandmother's on Christmas Day and my cousins and I sitting around watching the Christmas episode.

Several episodes of the series have been released to DVD and while in Canada, I found two volumes of the series I didn't have, in a grocery store! Mr Green

thumbs up Thanks, Lee!

You're welcome. I wish I could comment more on "Davey And Goliath", but I only caught bits and pieces of it on TV as a kid. eyebrow

I remember this being a staple of early morning TV, when I was growing up and as cable wasn't available in our neck of the woods, I saw a lot of this on our one available channel. I know lots of childhood films and TV series sometimes lose their appeal when we get older, but this series retains it's appeal and charm for me. Still, most of my friends and family will roll their eyes when I mention it or they see me watching it....but, I don't care! tongue and cheek

You know, I've found that these folks usually like to watch something themselves that would elicit a "rolling of the eyes" from others, and their response to such ocular moevements would also be I don't care... tongue-1

 I really don't care when I get ribbed about the series or films I watch. I know many times people ask what 'guilty pleasures' you might have as far as film viewing goes and I really can't say I feel one ounce of guilt for my choices. I do know that my taste is often questioned and I might get some good-natured ribbing about said choices, but as they say, 'I likes what I likes!'. Mr Green

Sums up my stance on the matter as well. One should never have to apologize, or be made to feel as though they need/should apologize, for what they like. You will never have to here at MF, not as long as I am here. thumbs up

Exactly! I know you and I do share an enjoyment of a lot of the same films, but I know we also have differing views on some, but I think that's what makes life interesting, it would be boring if we agreed 100% on everything!

Thanks, Lee, I don't think anyone should ever feel guilty or feel they need to apologize for films they enjoy.....you'll never see me asking for anyone to explain how they could possibly enjoy a certain film, either! Heck, I sometimes find myself a fan of a film, because of someone's recommendation or because they seem to be so fond of a film, I'll check it out, if I haven't seen it before!
