LOL...that's hilarious! Kimi, maybe there was some subconscious reason you were using that smiley so much...just teasing.

Anyway, is Latitude Zero any good? I've read articles about it but I don't really want to buy this movie without getting a better idea about it. I bough Atragon without having watched it previously and I was, believe it or not, rather disappointed.

I believe Atragon(1963), Dan, has a more serious tone and more talking scenes. Latitude Zero(1969) is, IMO, definitely campier and has a little bit more quick pacing. You would probably like the presence of American actors Richard Jaeckel and Caesar Romero, the latter surprisingly effective as the villain in this movie, and who lets loose with that laugh a couple of times that he made famous in the 1966 Batman TV series as "The Joker". The special effects, regarding the underwater shots and the submarines, are pretty good. The monsters in this film are fairly outrageous, comparable to what you might see in an episode of Inframan.

Interesting. Maybe I should check it out.

There are no videos of this movie on the internet, YouTube or otherwise. There are some images and reviews if you Google it. You might ask August Ragone for his take on Latitude Zero, Dan. He would be able to describe it perhaps a bit better than I could. Just a thought. :)

Just a reminder that Mediablasters has purchased the North American rights to Kadokawa's Gamera The Brave(2006), presumably to release on R1 DVD...perhaps in 2008.

I see they are releasing another Shaw brothers martial arts film. Ill probably look into that. Some of the other titles look interesting as well, though lately Ive been getting kind of tired of all the 70's styled exploitation movies.

Media distribution company Crunchyroll has entered into a partnership with Media Blasters, ADV Films and a Japanese media company called GDH K.K. to provide online streaming services for select anime and live action films, as well as other subscription related services. Sci-Fi Japan has all the info: http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2008/08/11/crunchyroll-partners-with-media-blasters-adv-and-gdh-for-online-distribution/

As was posted first by G2Kmaster in another thread, Mediablasters has bought the North American(R1) DVD rights to Shochiku's Monster X Strikes Back: Attack The G8 Summit, a movie that features Guilala, the monster that first appeared in the 1967 Shochiku film "The X From Outer Space", fighting a giant gold colored statue come to life called Take-Majin. The link: http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2009/01/26/media-blasters-licenses-monster-x-strikes-back-attack-the-g8-summit/

Look for this movie on R1 DVD by the end of this year.

I gotta be honest here. I'm not too excited about seeing this movie. How I miss having the anticipation of watching an upcoming kaiju movie. I think i'm gonna have to get back into the current Ultraman movies as filler for now. If only Toho or Daei would give us a decent kaiju movie or two until Godzilla returns.

I'm not sure what to think of a Guilala movie as I have not seen any yet. I'll give them a chance, but I'm not going to be holding my breath. Still, I'm glad to see any kaiju film get imported here just for the sake of the genre.
