Perhaps this is better suited for the animation forum, but being that we're fast approaching Halloween, I thought this might be the best place to discuss the film/DVD. I actually never saw this film that I can recall, until I was well into my 20s! I think this is a solid entry from Rankin & Bass, perhaps best known for their Christmas specials. In this film, you have Baron Von Frankenstein deciding to call together the members of the, World Wide Organization of Monsters, to discuss his retirement, he horrifies the members when it's announced his very nerdy nephew, Felix will be taking over the organization. We have all the classic creatures in this animated classic.....The Creature, the Creature's wife (voiced by Phyllis Diller!), Dracula, the Wolf Man, Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde, the Mummy, the Invisible Man and even a Creature From the Black Lagoon kind of beastie. Lots of innocent fun and one film I always make room for during my October horror fest. Mr Green |

I have this on, right now! Mr Green This will be my second viewing of this DVD in October and I'll probably squeeze in one more viewing before the end of the month. If anyone has this DVD or even VHS and you watch closely during the scenes in the pharmacy.....there's Rudolph, on the top shelf, behind the counter!

As wacky as this woman has been, on and off camera, throughout her career, it seems appropriate, to me anyway, that Phyllis Diller would do the voiceover for this character... faster <!--emo&shifty eyes--> <!--endemo-->

 Diller was perfectly cast for this role, I can't imagine anyone else doing this role and doing it as well. |

Kimi, the animation effects for Mad Monster Party(1969) look similar to those in Thunderbirds Are Go!. Was the production team for both of these features the same, or in some other way connected? eyebrow |

Good question, Lee! I'm not sure if Rankin & Bass and Gerry/Sylvian Anderson shared any team members, but I'll look into that and see if I can find an answer. |

Ken Hulsey's "Robo Japan" blog does a nice job of revisiting Mad Monster Party(1969): http://robojapan.blogspot.com/2008/10/mad-monster-party-1969-rankinbass.html |
