With all the talk lately on the boards about James Bond returning to the big screen in Casino Royale(007 to be played by Daniel Craig) I started thinking about the Bond films and...what are my favorites? I admit I am biased towards Sean Connery, who IMO was the best James Bond ever, the right mix of business(kicking the bad guy's asses) and suave(with the ladies). These are my top three favorite Bond films: 1. Goldfinger(1964)-this film has it all-a topnotch cerebral villain in Auric Goldfinger and his bullish, grinning Korean enforcer Oddjob(played by Harold Sakata). Babes galore in this film, including one of my favorite 60's sexy actresses Honor Blackman 2. You Only Live Twice(1967)-a great them song, terrific story set in the Far East, and Mie Hama 3. Die Another Day(2002)-I liked this one more for the special effects, especially the invisible car, the opening "surfing" scene, and lots of hellified action-the babe factor is well taken care of by Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike . Post your top three favorite James Bond films here, and feel free to explain your reply. :)

Great question and a tough one to answer, as well! :o I'm a huge James Bond/007 fan, so choosing just three isn't going to be easy. I also tend to prefer Connery in the role of 007, but not all my favorite films star Connery and I also appreciate Brosnan, as well. My choices for tonight would be: On Her Majesty's Secret Service-I know, a very unpopular choice for Bond (Lazenby) and probably a less popular film, but nontheless, I really enjoy this feature. The action sequences were excellent and I rather enjoyed the more personal side of Bond. Goldfinger-An excellent story and villain and I also think Honor Blackman was fantastic, I love her voice when introducing herself as, Pussy Galore. You Only Live Twice-But that might change, as I also love, Dr No and From Russia With Love. |

For what it's worth I thought George Lazenby did a good job as 007. If I remember correctly he was filling in for Sean Connery, who was in the midst of a contract dispute with the studio holding the rights to Bond...right? |

I have seen all the Pierce Brosnan Bond films. I think they are all very good. Mr. Brosnan reminds me a lot of Sean Connery-their mannerisms, e.g. their confidence(bordering on arrogance), their dry sense of humor, and their uncanny knack at improvising to get out of jams or kick some bad guys' ass. :D |

I really love Pierce Brosnan as Bond and was disappointed that he gave up the role....or was he forced out? |

He basically said he was through playing James Bond because of his age. He is in his early or mid fifties I believe. He made reference to the wear and tear on his body when explaining why he was finished playing Bond. I understand and accept his reasoning. :) |

I can certainly understand his reasons for giving up the role and prefer to know he chose to leave and he wasn't forced out. :) I sure hope Judi Dench stays on as 'M' for a while, I think she does a very nice job in the role. |

Judi Dench will be in the next Bond film, Casino Royale, slated for release on November 17th of this year. She will be reprising her role as M. |

Excellent news, I really like her in this role, but then she really hasn't disappointed me in any role I've seen her in. Oddly enough, I love the Bond series, but I've never gone to see one in the theatre....wonder if I'll buck that trend with this release? |

Maybe you should. From the what I have read so far about the next Bond film, it should be very good. If the script and storyline rumors are true we get to see James Bond just starting out after he gets his "00-" designation, or a "license to kill"(in the name of his govt. svc. of course). I don't know much about Daniel Craig, 37, who will play James Bond in Casino Royale, but I understand he is a very good actor, which is, IMO, an absolute must to play this character. I have also read that this film will be grittier, with less explosions, gadgets and wild chases/effects, with more emphasis on the characters and such. Sounds good to me. Opinions? |

I went with Pierce Brosnan, because I think he can still pull of the role, nicely. I think he's definitely got the look and presence needed to portray Bond and all of the films he's done have Bond have been quite enjoyable, I think. I also think Clive Owen would have made for a nice choice as Bond. In fact, when Brosnan made it clear he wasn't coming back in the role of Bond, I was very much hoping that Owen would assume the role. |

I read somewhere on the internet that the asking price for signing either Clive Owen or Hugh Jackman to play 007 was more than the studio(owning the rights) wanted to pay. After watching Clive Owen in Sin City I was hoping he would get the role, but as I said before, I keep an open mind about these things-example: back in 1988 I read that Bruce Willis was going to be in an action movie, which I thought was ludicrous, considering his character in Moonlighting, but after watching Die Hard(1988) I changed my mind, as he pulled off the role of hard-ass(and a little hard-luck crazy ) cop John McClane very well. ;) |

Pierce Brosnan is my alltime favorite James Bond actor. I would rather see him in the next few 007 films, but its too bad hes getting too old. |
