Pierce Brosnan is my alltime favorite James Bond actor.
I would rather see him in the next few 007 films, but its too bad hes getting too old.

Though Sean Connery is my favorite "007" I think very highly of Pierce Brosnan as an actor and his performance as James Bond, which I thought paralleled Connery's own performances in all of the most recent "Bond" films. I have to admit some disappointment at the selection of Daniel Craig to play the role, a sentiment apparently shared by many fans of the 007 franchise, who have threatened to boycott the next Bond film, called Casino Royale. I have read that this film will be "grittier", which I certainly would like. Eva Green, who will play Vesper Lynde, has certainly got plenty of sex appeal as a "Bond" girl tongue-1 -I hate pre-judging movies so I will wait and see. I hope the film does well at the box office, because if it does not there is always the chance the studio(MGM) might put the 007 character in mothballs. confused

Last night, Carol and I went to see this at the theatre and I must say, I quite enjoyed the effort. This new Bond has a much more rough edge to him, much in the way Connery's Bond had and I was very pleased with Daniel Craig in the role of Bond. Definitely more of a physical Bond than we've seen in some time.

Plenty of action, but a real lack of all the gadgets one has come to expect in a Bond film and I think this wasn't a bad thing for this film. The cast was excellent with Judi Dench once again in the role of, 'M' and supporting cast of, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Giancarlo Giannini and Jeffrey Wright, to name a few.

I really lookd forward to future Bond films with, Craig and I was actually a bit worried about him taking on this role....not anymore! Mr Green

I have seen various video clips(at Yahoo) and a couple of trailers for Casino Royale(2006) and I was impressed with what appears to be a return to action(hand to hand fighting and car chases) and less reliance on gadgets. I also agree that Daniel Craig is a more rugged "Bond", which I wholeheartedly advocate. Nothing against other Bonds, who have been described as "elegant"(Pierce Brosnan, for instance). I look forward to getting this movie on DVD.

Craig and Connery seem to be cut from the same mold, I think. Much more rugged and a bit more heartless in their dealings, which I think makes for a fascinating Bond. Elegant is a good description of say, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan, they seemed more likely to think their way out of a problem and used the physical aspects a bit less. I'm probably one of the few fans of, George Lazenby as Bond and he kind of fell into the middle as far as his Bond's reactions to situations. I never had an issue with any actor that played Bond, I enjoyed films from all actors, but as a whole, Connery's films are my faves. I think Craig could make for some great future Bond films. I hear a lot of gripes about Judi Dench as 'M', personally, I love her as an actress and she does an outstanding job as 'M', in my feelings. I also hope she continues on with this role, too.

Except regarding chest hair. tongue-1

Thank God they didn't glue fake chest hair on Daniel Craig like they did to Mike Myers in the "Austin Powers" films. freak out

 I have an aversion to lots of body hair....man, when I see it creeping up on the shoulders and the back, I cringe. freak out I know plenty of women out there just love tons of body hair, I just don't happen to be one of them. Connery wasn't too hairy, but I like the clean-look of no hair. :)

Maybe, though I sure haven't run into women with this attitude. I was once turned down for a date by a lovely Asian-American(Chinese?) colleague(she managed a women's apparel store in the mall I worked in) because I wore a goatee. She said she could not "tolerate" facial hair of any kind. :ph43r: I have chest hair but I am not excessively hairy(though I do have hairy legs)-thankfully, my girlfriend is amenable to the fur. thumbs up

Thread drift: have you participated in the shopping frenzy today...referred to as Black Friday? eyebrow

I know that many Asian films...Japanese, Chinese, perhaps Korean and others optically fog genital areas in their films, as they find pubic hair to be offensive. I see many DVD packages now warn potential buyers that 'fogging' is in place for many films.

I did indeed go out on Black Friday, but not so much to shop, but to pay on Christmas layaways, I've already been paying on. The stores were packed and crazy and you can calready see the unhappiness in some buyers eyes. Later, Friday night, we took Mom out and she did a bit of shopping and I just enjoy being out and about looking things over and the decorations, but not being forced to be in the middle of the craziness, trying to find items! That's downright scary! freak out

That's downright scary!
And also, unfortunately, potentially dangerous, what with many near riots and scattered instances of violence between shoppers across the country, year after year. crazy

I think they should have special shopping days for childless shoppers and those that want to bring their kids to the stores. Now, mind you, I am not a child-hater, in fact, I do like kids, but seeing parents in the stores with children unattended is a major pain! very angry Parents are screaming, yelling and chasing kids and kids are running, crying and begging to the point, I can't believe these people are allowed in public places! shocked smiley I mean, when I was a kid, I almost never got to go to a store and if I was in a store, I was to hold on Mom or Dad's hand or the cart and not stray one bit from them, not to beg for anything and not to touch anything....no questions asked! Today's kids are horrible acting and the parents are just as bad! freak out

Regarding many kids today I'm in agreement with you there. As I have gotten older I have come to some conclusions about young people(teenagers): they are more computer-savvy than I ever was at their age(due in part to the fact that I had no computer to work with in high school tongue-1 ). I also think they are probably a little smarter. I also get the impression they don't read as much as I did at that young age-some of this could be due to the internet and the advances made in video gaming. I also do not get the impression that many youngsters have an appreciation for history, or are as concerned about world events, as I was when I was a teenager. I also don't get the impression that many young people appreciate the value of having a good, unwavering work ethic, or a sense of self-respect, and a respect for the feelings, and opinions of others. Many of these observations come from the content I have seen posted by young people at various internet sites, and from my experience with working with young people in the work force. Let me add that I am not saying that I think all young people are like this, because I am not. Young people like Corey("King Joe" at this site) and Jonathan Rodrigo("Johnny Rod" at this site) are two young people who work hard, have self-respect, respect for others, are kind and considerate of others, and approach life with a purpose. My only fear, Kimi, is that Corey and "Johnny" are becoming the exceptions, and not the rules. :(

I think at times, some of the issues with some teens and young people is that they are the product of teens and very young adults. Basically, you have kids having kids, these days. Now, I'm not a moral cop and have never been one to point out that teens shouldn't have kids, but quite often, teens aren't prepared to have children, heck, at 25, I wouldn't have been ready!

I agree, when I was still working, I'd never call off, just for a day off....I never gave less than 100% and I took a great deal of pride in my job and was always shocked when younger people came in and basically didn't care about any aspect of work. I think a lot of my views on things are because of my parents and the way they were raised. Respect, hard work and a definite sense of history was part of how they were raised and so was I. I can see a definite difference in my attitude when compared to that of my two younger brothers. In some instances, we are as different as night and day.

Like you, Lee, I'm not grouping all young people and teens as 'bad', far from it, but like you, I think many teens and young people that have the qualities you listed are indeed becoming the exception, rather than the rule. Heck, I know people my age that have never taken hold of life and taken anything seriously, so it's not just an issue with the young, it is a problem with society in general, I think. I have nieces and nephews that range in age from 12 down to 6 months and it's sad, but some aren't being raised as they should be and I fear they will fall into the group that does just enough to, 'get by' or may even care little about others feelings. Some are going to be OK and work hard at being as good as they can, but it's the ones that receive no guidance from their parents that bother me the most. As an Aunt, I can only do so much and I don't see four of them at all, these days, but I always try and instill in them the need to be respectful, polite and hard-working, but in the end, we'll see how they turn out, I guess.

I've been surprised to read mainly positive thoughts on the film. Like myself, it seemed many weren't sure about Craig in the role, but it would appear he's won many fans in this role.
