I love the Bond films. In January of this year, when AMC aired a week-long marathon of Bond films, in spite of having most of them on DVD and hating commercials, I still found myself stopping and watching them! I'm so hoping I get one of the Ultimate Collections for Christmas and then I'll try and save up for the other three collections for after the holidays. |

As much as I like the "Bond" films I'd rather buy the titles individually-I wonder if that is even an option anymore... "Bond" films I currently have on DVD: 1. Dr. No(1962) 2. Goldfinger(1964) 3. Die Another Day(2002) "Bond" films on DVD I would like to buy next year: 1. From Russia With Love(1963) 2. Thunderball(1965) 3. You Only Live Twice(1967) 4. Goldeneye(1995) 5. Tomorrow Never Dies(1997) 6. The World Is Not Enough(1999) |

Lee, I believe I read that sometime early next year, these titles will be made available for individual purchases. The only two James Bond films I'm missing from my collection are; From Russia With Love and Diamonds Are Forever. I think the only reason I want to upgrade is the addition of commentaries from the actors with this batch. I love bonus features and find myself watching those, quite often. |

I think it does stink that the DVD companies will box up several films, slap a hefty price-tag on them, but won't offer any of the boxed titles for individual sale until later. I do believe I read early in 2007, these would be made available, I;ll try and see if I can find the blurb about that. |

I have to say I haven't been fond of Bond films for a long time now...I more or less great up and the Connery and Moore era but I never found anything outside those to to be particularly good....even those to had at least one entry I didn't like...namely Thunderball and Octopussy....but I've found it all ti be steady decline and I'll give Pierce Brosnen that he tried hard to make a good Bond and Goldeneye was okay it's just get got stuck with scripts that got rapidly worse and the good old Bond feel was very much a dying things....at least he was much better then Dalton. Now We have Casino Royale which lacks the wit or charm that is vital to a Bond film which is now lead by Daniel Craig who lacks any charm or charisma and frankly would have been more suited in a villain role. This I rank as the second worst after Die Another Day which to me had one of the mossy messy screenplays in flim history and is no doubt the reason they tryed to make a chance in Casino Royale......it just fell flat in it's face. |

After watching Casino Royale(2006) on DVD I was impressed by Daniel Craig's physicality in the role of "James Bond". Clearly a younger guy was needed and someone in great physical condition for many of the action scenes where a stunt double might not be used. That said like you I found Craig's "Bond" somewhat shallow, cocky, smug, sometimes a bit unsure of himself, the latter I can understand given the fact the film is essentially about Bond's first assignment. Daniel Craig is, IMO, a good actor but he just strikes me as being a bit too rugged for the role. My preference for this character would have been Clive Owen, possibly Hugh Jackman, both of who were rumored to be up for the role of 007 before it ultimately went to Daniel Craig. |

Eric Banner also almost got the part...though I thought he too would have been a miscast....I never said Daniel Craig is a bad actor....his just not suited to play Bond...and only a small few are upto that task. |

Who would you have liked to see playing "Bond", instead of Daniel Craig? |

Eddy Murphy....just kidding......Hmmm....these days I'm not sure...maybe Hugh Jackman even if abit too mainstream but it's definitely a part he would be more suited from then Wolverine.....there is nothing wrong with him as an actor but he was rather awkward in that particular part. |

Interestingly enough, Dougray Scott was, I believe, the original choice to play "Wolverine" in the X-Men film of 2000 but he couldn't get out of his obligations while filming for Mission Impossible 2(2000) was taking place. Having watched Dougray Scott in films I believe he would have made a fairly good Wolverine. I think Daniel Craig has some of the things you want to see, even expect to see, in the "James Bond" character: an edge, supreme self confidence to the point of an almost "swagger", and being in fairly good physical shape. What I see less of in Daniel Craig, than I would like: charm and that wry sense of humor we've seen in past "Bonds", especially Sean Connery and Roger Moore. |

As I stated earlier the only Bond era's I actually liked was Connery and Moore because while the 2 actors played the part differently and looked nothing alike and even had different accents....they were just so likable in the roles even with Roger Moore's advancing years he remained one of the most likable characters in film history...and in away it makes sense that Bond would get older since his supposed to have been busting caps since the 60's....afterward it seemed bond and Money Penny would get younger again but Q just got older and older and the timeline stopped making sense and it made the films seem less cannon to me. |

I think the the problem with finding a new James Bond was finding a good British actor to play him, when the picked Sean Connery and the Roger Moore they a huge choice of good actors to play him, but when you got to Brosnan they had to go to the ROI to find someone. Daniel Crag to be honest I thought would not work however after watching his first film he does show promise, I do however find it hard to find someone to replace him if he were not to stay long. |

I believe Daniel Craig recently signed on with MGM to do three(3) more "Bond" films, including Quantum Of Solace, scheduled for theatrical release late in 2008. |
