I know people don't like him that much but I like the new bond. Daniel Craig is a good actor(see Layer Cake) and I like how this bond is not "perfect". |

Thread drift: two questions for you: 1. Why is your domain part of your username? 2. why are you advertising a commercial equipment financing firm in your signature link? |

Awww.....says the video is no longer available. I'll have to look and see if I can find it, again. On a similar note, I have really enjoyed Judi Dench in the role of M, but read online that many Bond fans really dislike her in the role! No, it's not because I'm a woman that I enjoy her portrayal, I just thought she was quite good in the role......how's everyone else feel? |

I have edited the topic title to encompass all the "Bond" films. I like all the gents that have portrayed this character but my favorite among them is still, and I believe always will be Sean Connery. Here's the opening theme song(also a favorite theme of mine) for You Only Live Twice(1967): |

You Only Live Twice is my favorite Bond movie, and it has my favorite theme song. Here are my absolute favorite Bond movies. Dr. No From Russia With Love Goldfinger Thunderball You Only Live Twice The Living Daylights Casino Royale My favorite Bond was Connery, no contest. He's closely followed by Dalton, and then Craig. I like all the actors that have played Bond, but I don't like all of the movies. After the movies listed above, I also sort of like The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only. Beyond those the Bond franchise has been kind of subpar in my opinion. I'm still a huge Bond fan, but I can't admit to liking all the movies. Haven't seen Quantum of Solace yet. I've read too many bad reviews, so I'm waiting for the DVD. |

In that I am in complete agreement with you. Sean Connery was, IMO the best at combining all the things that I associate with the "Bond" character: self-confidence, self-assuredness, the necessary physicality(regarding fighting), a wry wit, creativity and discipline, the latter a quality I think many overlook because of Bond's affinity for womanizing. Connery had a screen presence that has not, IMO, been matched by any of the other fellows that have taken on the role. Connery could drop a one liner or other pun oriented sentence without coming across as trying to be funny. If any cinema role was perfect for any one actor, I think the character of "James Bond" was perfect for Sean Connery. I also like Timothy Dalton and thought he was solid in the role. I like Pierce Brosnan a little more because he reminds me of Connery, physically and in his mannerisms. I liked the Roger Moore "Bond" films but I didn't really like Roger Moore that much in the role. I didn't like George Lazenby at all in the 1969 Bond film. His performance seemed too muted, this fellow lacking in charisma. As for Daniel Craig, he brings more physicality to the role of "007" but his performance in Casino Royale left me unsure I 'like" the character, which Connery(and Brosnan/Dalton) made me do with ease and which I think is important for anyone watching a "Bond" film.

Connery definitely had it all. I think people make the same mistake when they think of Captain Kirk. They think of him as this constantly rebellious womanizer having sex with a girl on every planet. But just like with Connery's Bond, the character has a great deal of self-discipline. |

The original promo trailer for Dr. No(1962), the first "Bond" film: What I think I admire most about the character is his determination and resourcefulness. |

He's a very inspiring character to watch. Just seeing him confronting things and defeating them using not just his physical prowess, but his mind as well. And at the same time he has this brilliant sense of humor about the whole thing. Connery just nailed that so well. The self-confidence and the sense of humor. And also that resourcefulness you mentioned. |

With all "Bond" films come the bevy of beauties, some good and some bad, that cross paths with James Bond. Some of my personal favorite ladies from these movies: -Luciana Paluzzi, who starred in Thunderball(1965): absolutely gorgeous and every bit as beautiful as Raquel Welch -Claudia Auger, who starred in Thunderball(1965) -Isabella Scorupco, who starred in Goldeneye(1995) -Honor Blackmon("Pussy Galore"), who starred in Goldfinger(1964): she was the only "Bond" girl who was older than Sean Connery and also an absolute favorite 60's hottie of mine -Akiko Wakabayashi, who starred in You Only Live Twice(1967) -Michelle Yeoh("Wei Lin"), who starred in Tomorrow Never Dies(1997) -Teri Hatcher("Paris Carver"), who starred in Tomorrow Never Dies(1997) -Halle Berry("Jinx"), who starred in Die Another Day(2002) Crow, any favorites of your own? |
