Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Kimi.

You're welcome. :)

You know, it's funny, but as a kid, birthdays were always something to be excited about. Then, I went through a stage in my life where I was neither excited or disappointed/depressed about my birthday. Now, for the past five years or so, I actually find myself excited on that day and the reason is a bit odd.....it's like, I am excited about it, because it's my very own, special, personal day. eh? Never mind the fact that each birthday adds an ever-growing number of candles or that I'm reminded that I'm not as young as I once was....I just like feeling special for that one day and receiving phone calls where family/friends sing, 'Happy Birthday' to me or send me a card.....I'm like a kid on that day, again! Gee, even reading that staggers me! I've been very lucky, received a ton of my DVDs as gifts, purchased with gift cards and made some decent purchases and such, but still, as many VHS as I had, I don't think I ever came close to 1500-1600 VHS! shock

Mr Green

Speaking of candles on a cake.....has anyone here gotten depressed over a milestone birthday? 30, 40 or do you see yourself depressed when a certain age is hit? I think Dad has always been bothered, when reaching milsetone birthdays....30, 40, 50 and 60. Mom was never bothered a bit, she said, until she hit 60 and that really hit her hard. Me, I haven't been depressed, so to speak, simply shocked that I'm two years into my 40s. freak out I hope hitting 50 doesn't depress me, time will tell, I suppose. Hell, at this point, I'm just happy to have made it to another birthday! ;)

That's very nice of you to spread the love with sharing these films. Mr Green I also gave away a ton of my VHS, sold some on eBay and at last year's lawn sale.

Speaking of eBay, I decided, because they are OOP, to try and buy extra copies of various Simitar "Godzilla" DVDs, namely: Godzilla Vs Mothra(1964), Monster Zero(1965), and Godzilla's Revenge(1969). I also would like to get an extra copy of the Simitar DVD Godzilla King Of The Monsters(1956). I found none at eBay, but I did find all of these titles at Amazon.com, used and/or new, many of them reasonably priced.

I'm happy to give them to Clark(aka "SparkieGojira"). He's a nice guy, who I have spoken with by phone several times. He lives in Seattle, WA and works there as a security guard. He's a HUGE Dr. Who fan. nod

I used to be a real eBay junkie! I bought a ton of stuff on there over a period of about 3 years, but in the last 5 years or so, I have done little in the way of purchases on eBay for myself, but have purchased several items as Christmas gifts for others. Another online friend asked me how I was doing so well with not bidding and I told her, the lack of finances might have something to do with it! ;)

You know, I used to see Dr Who on a PBS station, but I never really got into it, although I'd like to try. I simply don't know where to begin, as that series has been going strong for several years...even decades! I do own the two Dr Who films that Amicus put out in the 60s, with Peter Cushing as Dr Who, but I don't think either film is very popular with proper Dr Who fans.

You could start with the 1960's "Dr. Who" and Tom Baker-just a thought. :)

I have a birthday coming up. I always buy myself a DVD on this day. I'll let you decide, from the list, what I should order:

1. The Host(2006)(aka Gwoemul, the Korean kaiju film)-DDDHouse.com orfrom various other sites offering it on R3
2. Godzilla Vs Megalon(1973)(R4)-Madman Entertainment
3. Jonny Quest(1964)-the original Hanna-Barbera classic/all episodes-DeepDiscountDVD

Pick one from this list and post your choice. I will get that one, no questions asked. tongue-1

No. I do, however, respect the "Dr. Who" character, the various "Who" series, and his many television variations. It is obviously a very significant, and popular, sci-fi character and franchise. thumbs up

It certainly has endured. Last night, a local PBS station was showing the first episode of the newest series of Dr Who. I fell asleep before that came on. :(

I have watched a couple of episodes of the new "Dr. Who" series on the Sci-Fi Channel. It keeps me interest a little better, I think, because of the special effects.

I believe the local PBS station is going to be airing the new Dr Who series, I did miss the first airing, but this is their Pledge Drive time, so I bet they'll show that again, once the drive is over.

I have watched many of these PBS "drives"-one I saw more recently had "Celtic Woman" performing-have you ever heard the music of this Irish group of singers and musicians? I was very impressed-they're music is, IMO, terrific, and I'm not just saying that because I'm half-Irish. tongue-1
