| Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community! MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports. MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here. For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju). -Lee "Packmule" Merritt site founder |

I heard there was a fan flick in the works, but no official movie. confused Here's a link about the "Leprechaun" films": Leprechaun [Irish accent]And if the two were ta' tangle, me money'd be on the Leprechaun to jack Mr. Chucky up, yae know. I am half-Irish so I got to back Leppy up. I think Leppy would have the luck o' the Irish on his side, nae doubt about it.[/Irish accent]

A friend of mine has an older computer, a 1998 Dell, that continues to run well today. He uses Comcast high speed for his internet access, and will probably never buy another desktop, as long as his older Dell continues to operate smoothly. My OS is Windows 2000 Business, and I use an older MSN Messenger program(7.0), both of which work well. The only downside to Windows 2000 is that it is not compatible with the "Windows Defender" program, which I had on my former computer(an eMachines with Windows XP). I downloaded Bellsouth's Internet Security Suite(Anti-Virus/Firewall/Anti-Spyware) and pay $5 extra a month for all three. I had to remove Spybot Search And Destroy and Ad Aware(free) from my computer, as they both conflicted with the Bellsouth Security suite programs. I was able to retain Spyware Blaster and also A Squared Anti-Spyware(free), which are both, IMO, good programs. thumbs up |

When we purchased this new computer, the newest Windows OS was installed, Windows Vista. It came pre-installed with, McAfee virus protection and I have to admit, I like this protection program, it has a ton of nice features that my old computer's free virus protection didn't offer. I received an E-mail offering a 29% discount, to keep McAfee, after the 90 free period expires and Carol and I talked about it and I'll order it, this Friday. I think Skeet's computer may actually be running Windows 98, but I;d have to ask. shock |

I watched Leprechaun(1993) yesterday on the Sci-Fi Channel, more out of curiosity than anything, as I had never seen this film in it's entireity. Give Warwick Davis credit: he does a pretty good job in the title role as the hellified, gold-obsessed and pint sized leprechaun with a dry sense of humor and a mean streak to boot. I also watched about half of Leprechaun 2(1994) before Gloria called me to rant about all the latest gossip among her neighbors. Ordinarily I dread this call I get from her, which happens once a month, but in this case it bailed me out of watching the rest of the second "Leprechaun" film. Jumping beardsley |

McAfee and Norton are two of the most recognized names in computer security, there's no doubt about that. Are they the best? I don't know. I've been told that many freeware anti-virus programs are just as good, like AVAST and AVG. I had Norton Internet Security on my old computer for the first year I had the machine. I never had any complaints about this program's ability to keep my computer secure-it certainly did that. My complaint lay in the startup times for my machine, and the "re-start" times-they were slow, and I was told by my friend who is a computer programmer by day and computer builder(on the side) that programs like Norton and McAfee take up considerably more space in a computer than do other security programs, hence the slower load times when starting/re-starting the computer. My current computer, with Bellsouth's Internet Security Suite, starts/re-starts much more quickly. That said, Kimi, if McAfee has offered you a 29% discount then I'd suggest you take it. Norton never offered me any discount, so consider yourself fortunate.

The "Leprechaun" movies? No. Gloria's rambling gripes about her neighbors? Not really either, though they are more entertaining to listen to, than these horror films about a leprechaun who, IMO, isn't really that scary. Gloria is a veteran member of her neighborhood "association", where people in her neighborhood, including herself, meet monthly at someone's house to eat, drink, and play backyard philosopher. I went to one of these meetings, and got into a heated argument with a gentleman who made disparaging remarks about landscapers in general, then continued to do so even after I informed him I was a landscaper. To prevent myself from losing it and going off on this guy I removed myself from the situation, leaving Gloria's house. Gloria was fairly understanding, though she was troubled at how angry I got. I promised her I would work on this, which I have, but I also told her it would be a good idea for me to avoid this asshole, who would be present at these monthly meetings, which she agreed was the best thing for me to do. Most of Gloria's neighbors are okay folks-a little on the arrogant side but generally agreeable. There are some exceptions, where a handful of them are arrogant to the point of absurdity. This guy who crossed me at that party was one of them. I tolerate things about Gloria, one of them being her neighbors. She tolerates things about me-we both work at it, and agree to be flexible. So far so good. |

I read an article at CNET about 4-5 months ago that rated the freeware anti-virus programs. AVAST was in the top five, and AVG got an honorable mention. AOL's anti-virus program was rated the best of the freeware anti-virus programs. |

I have an issue with arrogance, like you said, most people you are able to ignore or deal with, but when arrogance reaches the heights of ignorance and stupidity, I lose it. That was good that you removed yourself from the situation, before things were said or done that might make it tough for all involved, I don't always do that, myself. That's the thing about relationships, we all have to tolerate and live with certain things that aren't all that easy, but guess if we overcome the issues, it makes us slightly better people. |

Many thanks Kimi. I hope, at forty-five years of age, I can go another forty or forty-five years. I'm sure going to try. Mr Green As for DVDs I know(though I'm not supposed to ) that I will be receiving Casino Royale(2006) and Touch Of Evil(1958)(from a friend) this weekend. I am also being treated to dinner by my girlfriend Saturday night-she said she had a "surprise" for me- be it a DVD or something else I'm sure I'll like it.
