Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

OK, I was crazy-nuts about seeing this film when it first came out in......'93, was it? I have been absolutely in love with dinosaurs since I was old enough to know about them and I was pumped about seeing this film. I was working second shift at the time and was beginning 7 days of vacation when the filmed opened...believe it was August of that year? Anyway, grabbed Skeet and we went to the mall to see it and the first time we see the dinos.....while drinking at the water hole, I actually got shivers! :) Skeet and I watched it, then went out to the parking lot and I mentioned I could watch it, again. He said he'd be willing to, but we didn't that afternoon. I ended up taking Mom to see it, not once, but twice during that week off and Skeet and I saw it a little later, that Summer at the Drive-In, another friend and I went to the Drive-In to catch it and I took Michael and his wife to the theatre to see it that October.

When the sequel came out, I took a Friday off, so Skeet, his wife and I could go see it and that film didn't impress me as much as the first film had. When the third film came out, Carol and I went to a cinema to see it and then later to a Drive-In, I prefered the third film over the second, but still felt the franchise could have been done a wee bit better and not leaned as much towards a 'tween/family' film.

The first film will always be my favorite of the three films, but isn't there supposed to be a fourth film in the works? eh?

I have great memories of watching Jurassic Park(1993), first in a movie theater, then later after I picked up the DVD. I have the DVDs of all three "Jurassic Park" films. While the first one remains my favorite, for sentimental reasons, I enjoy the second one about as much. The third installment was not quite as good, for me, though I was impressed with the new dino in this movie, the Spinosaurus, even bigger than T-Tex. The battle between the Spinosaurus & T-Rex was great, and looked very realistic. I also liked seeing the pterodactyls get more screen time in the third "Jurassic Park" film. Kimi, the book Jurassic Park, written by Michael Crichton, is very good, in case you haven't read it.

It's in the works, and is tentatively scheduled for theatrical release in 2008: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369610/

Yes, the first film remains my favorite in the series, as well. I was slightly disappointed with the second film, it seemed to kind of be all over the place and while the idea of the dinos making a populated land-fall, I thought the ending was a bit too cartoonish. I also liked seeing the pterodactyls getting more screen time, that was a big bonus. thumbs up

Thanks for the link with info on the fourth film. Mr Green

I see that, according to at least one link, the character of "Ellie Sattler"(played by Laura Dern) may return in the fourth Jurassic Park film. thumbs up

I'd like to see that. I'd like to see Sam Neill back, as well.

Same here. Rumors regarding Jurassic Park IV suggest several cast members from the 1993 film will return for this fourth installment. That said I also think there needs to be a new, and different "angle", for lack of better word, on the fourth JP film. This might include a new species of dino and/or new plot elements present that were not in the previous JP movies-otherwise, a rehash of things we've already seen in the first three will probably = a fourth JP movie that sags at the box office.

Thread drift: frankly speaking, Kimi, the new avatar seems appropriate, as 6/26/07 nears. tongue-1

No doubt an effort to raise money for the 4th movie...

I think, of all the movies getting 3D re-releases in theaters, I might actually see this one. Sure it'll be a conversion, but hell, it's Jurassic Park, and it won't be getting butchered Lucas style.

Also, I'm curious about this "new direction" they're going to take the 4th movie in. If this helps raise money for it, I guess I'll bite.

Could we see feathered T-rexes in Jurassic Park 4?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/46954385/ns/technology_and_science-science/?ocid=todmsnbc11#.T32yltXpo_g

The JP franchise has a reputation for trying to be as accurate to current dinosaur theories as possible (with the exception of the velociraptor). They even changed the raptors to have feathers on their heads in JP3 when evidence of these feathers were found. What do you guys think?

I think as long as Jeff Goldblum isn't cast in this film as the brilliant but forever mumbling Ian Malcolm I'm good. winky

The guys who wrote "Rise of the Planet of the Apes?" I haven't seen that one yet.

Thoughts?

Two things:

1. I'd like to see an aquatic dino in this one, either a plesiosaur or some other large marine creature

2. NO velociraptors armed with machine guns

Truth be told, I wouldn't mind if the Jurassic Park game by Telltale that recently came out was scrapped and that script was used for a fourth movie. I felt really disappointed that they went the video game route with a pretty decent story like that, since the gameplay mechanics didn't really do it the justice it could've had.

That being said, I'm with Packmule on an aquatic reptile. I would absolutely love to see a Mosasaur, they've always been my favorites and I will fangirl squee if we get one. I get the feeling we won't be seeing Spinosaurus again considering it's reception in the third, which is a downer but as long as it still has the Velociraptors* then I'll be looking forward to this one.

*Lacking machine guns, of course

So apparently there will be a fourth Jurassic Park film in the summer of 2014...possibly competing against the LP Godzilla film. Thoughts on this development, anyone? heyo

I didn't really care much for the second and third installments. But the fact that they've got the writers that worked on Rise of the Planet of the Apes makes me think this might be an improvement.

While these films may have spectacular special effects even 20 years later.
I've always considered them to be mildly overrated.
Maybe it's the characters. As memorable as they are, they bore me.
