From wiki zilla a cover shot (if so) ![]() Godzilla 3D to the MAX is an upcoming 3-D IMAX film installment into the franchise. The movie was scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on September 12th 2007, with a Japanese theatrical release to follow on a to be announced 2008 date. Aside from the 3-D IMAX format, the film is planned to be shot in 70mm film and is slated to be 40 minutes long. However, as of January 21, 2007, the film's developers hasn't actually received funding from Toho yet[1] and with production believed to have halted for the time being. A cast and musical composer have yet been announced as of February 5, 2007. It will be helmed by Yoshimitsu Banno, who previously directed Godzilla vs. Hedorah in 1971, and Keith Melton. 3D to the MAX will be produced by Kenji Okuhira and Brian Rogers respectively. The film's production is being done by Advanced Audiovisual Production, director Banno's own company stationed in Japan, and is being planned to target the American market along with an American cast. However, Toho, the creators of Godzilla, will act as technical advisors over the Godzilla character and will distribute the film in Japan. Special effects will be handed by Eiichi Asada. Plot summary A new monster called Deathla, appears and awakens Godzilla from hibernation in the Iguazu Falls, located between Argentina and Brazil. A battle ensues and progressed to Mexico City and finally concludes in Las Vegas |

I have not found, on the internet, any significant updates on the making of a Godzilla 3D film. If anyone else here has, or does in the future, please feel free to post the update here. Thanks. :) |

well I hear the film is planed to be made next year and I have also heard some spoilers to it's plot which some may not wanna here so I'll shut my mouth but as you all probably already know Godzilla will be fighting a monster called Deathla in Las Vagas......from what I hear though "if" things go well production for the film will start some time next year. So let's all wish Banno luck. |

I'll actually have to look for it as it wasn't where I got the bulk of the information....but for what I got from the article was that is still no closer to actual completion but Banno hasn't declared the project to be dead as the all that seems to be done is the potential start of the production was puched back.....I'll see if I can find it now for yous as I sadly haven't book marked it......also there is a question to how valid it was. As people are not to blog rumors like they are actual facts. On the other hand there have been other place to say it would be released in 2009 if production were to start in February 2008 which it doesn't appeart to have and that info can be found here. and it was stated to begin 2006 here. So all the news updates only seem to say the production date has been pushed back more. |

I don't see this movie happening. Toho will be back to producing official Godzilla movies well before this project ever makes it off the ground. |

It most likely won't and it's more likely that Banno is living a pipe dream which will never see the light of day...as I pointed out the production date on gets pushed further and further back and that's even if what bloggers are saying is true and that Banno hasn't declared it dead yet. |

"Pipe dream" is the perfect term for describing Banno's quest to get this movie made. |

Pipe dream or not it's been enough to spark up alot of interest which only shows there is still quite a market for Godzilla to make a comeback......I just hope it was enough for Toho to take notice. |

I'm inclined to agree with you here, Dan. I'm not going to lament the fact we may have no Godzilla film for possibly another five years. The reasons:
There are other things that may keep us around here occupied: BCI's planned releases of various Japanese tokusatsu TV series, including April's Super Robot Red Baron TV series jumping smiley |

I see it this way. In '75, after TOMG, the kaiju genre died down. Nine years later, we had Godzilla (1984). Five years later, we had Godzilla vs. Biollante. Then the Heisei series continued and ended in '95. Four years later, we had G2K, and the Millennium series continued and ended in 2004. Seems like once again the kaiju genre has just died down once again. But one thing we can count on is Toho bringing back Godzilla right on cue. Either before or during his 60th birthday perhaps? |

you are right...I think that however long Toho is around there will always be sights set for more Godzilla films because that it's their iconic franchise and for the most part has been a huge money maker even if Godzilla Final Wars wasn't. |

I'm a tad bit neutral on this. First of all, I DO NOT want Goji to fly again, but Deathla should start out attacking Al Gore's ranch. |
