Lee, feel free to move this or merge it or delete it, but I wanted to show to what levels some people will sink, in order to sell a product!

Cult Camp Classics: Volume 5

We have received official sets with this title......four volumes, in fact, this seller is trying to cash in on that fact!

confused and freak out about this. Is this a bootleg of some kind? I was under the impression that only four volumes of WB's Cult Camp Classics were released. I see that the discs of this 'set", a term I use loosely here by the way, are Region 0. I also noticed that this idiot has declared all of these films "public domain"-MGM holds the rights to The Green Slime. I don't know about the other two. I'll let you expunge more on this on Sunday(or whenever you are back online again, whichever is sooner tongue-1 ) since I have never used eBay for anything. The reason: too many horror stories posted on the internet by those who have been victimized by nefarious types and various shysters looking to make a quick buck at the expense of others. thumbs down

Note: once this thread has "run it's course", so to speak, I'll move it into another topic, probably "Coming soon to DVD" or some other topic that's DVD related. :)

Yes, it is. I hate the fact that there are people out there trying to cash in on classic fans love for these films. I can't believe how official the photo looks in the auction.

I'm not surprised at all. eBay allows the sales of bootlegs on their sight, from the looks of this ad. Have you considered reporting this guy to eBay? Would it do any good?

Good question, Lee, I'm not sure it would do any good to report the seller. It bothers me that there are people out there trying to take advantage of people. Now, I fully understand that if a film isn't available on DVD and someone is willing to purchase a DVD-R, then that's totally OK with me, the buyer and seller both know what they're doing, but this seller is doing his or her best to make a buyer think they're getting an official DVD.

It's like some Shaw Brothers DVDs I found at Suncoast, they are indeed bootlegs, they were photographed and talked about at a DVD site and I told them about the bootlegs they were selling and the associate said he'd never heard that this company was selling bootlegs and basically gave me the briush-off like I was an idiot. thumbs down

I also agree with you here, which is why I think you should report this individual to eBay. His deception is uncalled for, unethical, and frankly, IMO, despicable. DVD and DVD-R "savvy" folks like you and myself, Kimi, can spot a jackass like this guy because we have so much experience buying manufacturer(official) DVDs and those that are copied(DVD-R's). A person, or persons, that are not might fall prey to this guy. Report him, Kimi. That's what I'd do, for what it's worth. If nothing else eBay might compel this turd to rephrase his ad so that people looking it over will understand, clearly, that he is selling a bootleg. You might also want to report his sorry ass to Warner Home Video, if they have a website and a contact email address and/or phone number. I doubt they would like the fact this guy is using a DVD cover which is an exact replica of their official volumes.

I have decided I will report this to eBay and forward along the photo and such to Warner Brothers, just to see what they have to say about it. I'll keep you posted!

You're doing the right thing. I looked at the link again and it appears he has closed the bidding on his bootleg. Maybe someone else reported him, forcing this jackass to turn tail and run.

Yes, it could be that someone else did report him, as I've not heard anything from my E-mails, yet.

I believe that is exactly what happened. Suggestion: wait a week longer, then if no return email from eBay email them again about this. :)

Thread drift: is the link in your sig your DVD collection? Or just part of it?

Yes, I figure I may/may not hear anything right away, but I saved the auction photo, just in case they need to see something, since the listing is gone.

I believe it's the complete list, as of, today. I have it set up, so Carol's collection is included in mine, as she doesn't keep track of what she owns and doesn't own. freak out Over the next ten days or so, I should be receiving a few more, just because I completed a Columbia House enrollment obligation and have two titles coming for that.....maybe.

Perhaps you should, despite this treatment from the associate, contact Suncoast Video by phone or email to repeat your complaint.

I can't say I'm surprised by this. I sent Suncoast a letter many years ago after their last mall store closed in Atlanta. I never heard from them. I probably spent close to $2000 in that store on VHS/DVD's between 1997-2001.

I think taking the time to respond to questions, comments or complaints means someone actually cares about the customer or potential customer. Over the years, I've spent a lot in Suncoast, because they do offer a pretty decent selection of DVDs, but associate knowledge can sometimes be questionable, as in most retail stores.
