Has anyone seen the more extended cuts of parts one and two? Perhaps three has been extended as well, but I watch that film so little, I wouldn't know. Anyway, Bravo is at least one of the channels that has been showing what appears to be more extended cuts of Godfather and Godfather II and I like the additions. Some scenes are extended and make a little more sense to me and some scenes expand a bit on the characters as well. I really like the extended versions and would like to see these added to discs and released.....I'd be happy to double-dip in this instance.

Does anyone know if there is any chance of this happening?

I recently watched The Godfather in its entireity on Bravo, which is, IMO, an outstanding cable movie channel.

I'm not sure Kimi. I'll look into it.

I'm still hoping to see an eventual release of these films in their extended versions....in some instances, these films make more sense in the extended format.

Thanks for the link, Lee!

That's great news, I still wish we could see the extended cuts. I'm thinking of saving for a PS3...is it 80GB, just because I could kind of kill two birds with one stone....get the Blu-Ray player and a new system for Carol to play with, too. Mr. Green

They're available on the fifth disc contained in the DVD box set released about 7 years ago. There's a lot of material that was edited from the theatrical version of Godfather I and II. However, many of those scenes were put back in for the television broadcasts of the late 1970's. The TV version of Godfather I and II was released on VHS video under the title "The Godfather: The Complete Epic". It was a VHS box set that re-edited both films into a complete movie, shifting the DeNiro flashback scenes to the very beginning. As a result, scenes from I and II were remixed to appear chronologically.

I've seen a Playstation with 40GB advertised as well.

Thanks, Dan, I'd still love to see the films released in chronological order, just for the fact that I think some of the extended scenes really do help make sense of some aspects of the film.

Thanks, Lee......Carol has mentioned several times that if she got a PS3, she'd prefer the 80GB....that must be a HUGE amount of space to save games and such, I'm assuming! huh?

That was definitely one of the most memorable moments of the film, though there were many. From that point on everyone knew Don Corleone was not playing games. freak out

I have a confession: I have never seen the Godfather nor any of it's sequels or the separate film with Christopher Lamberth, THE SCICILIAN. I think it is because the Godfather never comes on TV in an uncut form. This is really sad, since people say that the Godfather films are up there as some of the best films ever made, with only works like Ran from Akira Kurosawa, or the films of Scorsesse or the SK adaptation THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION in competition.
