Does anyone else think this movie has a unique style to it, and it feels very classy? Just something I noticed after rewatching the film? |

This film has IMO a certain "spectacle" air about it: the pronounced entrances of all the monsters, especially Ghidrah's fiery and airborne appearance in the sky, give this film a "grand" feel about it. |

A large part of why I like this film so much is Ghidrah. The powerful creature's first appearance, erupting and forming out of the airborne fireball, is spectacular. I also liked the sequence where the monster first flies over a city, the destruction effects of its gravity beams and hurricane force winds generated from its wings very well rendered visually. During the monster battle, KG's gravity beams blast larval Mothra about like a rag doll and when Godzilla tries to square on KG and grab the three headed monster he is quickly driven back into the bridge. KG is well set up and rendered as a monster too powerful for either Godzilla, Rodan or Mothra to successfully fight on their own. Only the '91 Heisei G film Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah and the '98 film Mothra 3: Invasion of King Ghidorah do this golden space dragon equal justice. GMK(2001) is close but showing the less than matured KG fighting Godzilla takes away from King Ghidorah's menacing quality a great deal. |

Godzilla and Toho movies had memorible ideas and Monsters. Godzilla was about a Nuclear Dinosaur that awkoke, and rampages all over a city. Godzilla Raids Again added a new Monster. Then Mothra and Rodan movies came out. King Kong vs Godzilla was a great idea of putting very popular monsters toghether. Then putting a Popular Toho Monster with Godzilla in Godzilla vs Mothra. And Finally a Original and new Monster Named Ghidrah. After that, Godzilla Monsters and Storys never seemed as good. But I will say that King Ghidorah is one of the most impressive and most important Monsters ever! One glimpse and you think of one word, effort. The Man Hours to build a creature like that. Each scale being placed on the creature. King Ghidorah is Such a big Monster too, when watching the movie, you realize that he takes up almost the whole frame, is amazing to say the least. And makes Godzilla look not as fearsome as he should. I'm glad to say that King Ghidorah is one of my favorite Godzilla monsters. |

There is a Godzilla book(a novel) where King Ghidorah is a towering 500 feet tall. In the same book Godzilla is scaled at 100 meters in height(333 feet) which is obviously enormous but still considerably smaller than KG. Not coincidentally, KG was the ultimate "bad guy" in this book(I can't remember the title off hand) and it took the combined efforts of Godzilla(who was a menace in the book) and Mothra(the adult version and a friend to humanity), both monsters forming a temporary alliance, to drive off King Ghidorah. The final battle between these monsters took place (I think) in New York City. Needless to say much of the city was leveled as the monsters, especially Godzilla and KG, battled it out. Should King Ghidorah return to the big screen I'm inclined to think that Toho(or Legendary Pictures) would be best served(along with the fans) making KG noticeably larger than Godzilla and other monsters. King Ghidorah has always been portrayed as a monster as powerful or even more so than Godzilla. |

This is a favorite of the Showa era for me. I love the music, the tune played during Godzilla and Rodan's fight has always been one of my favorites. King Ghidorah definitely makes his most grand entrance in this one. The destruction that he causes is magnificent. I like his attacks much better than Monster Zero. In MZ, KG's gravity beams barely do anything. |

I've come to the conclusion that Godzilla and Rodan are equals. They have identical origins, similer pasts, and there first fight ended in a Draw. I think Rodan is Godzilla with wings. |

Agreed, he never looked good again after Rodan. He looked decent in Godzilla Final Wars, and Fire Rodan While stiff wasn't bad. It's just strange that his first movie he looked the best, and as Technology progressed, He only looked worse. Just a Shame. I wish there was a Rodan 2: Return of Rodan. |

Godzilla's Breath Effect. First its a Blue Beam. Then for the rest of the film its just mist! Eiji Tsuburaya had to hide one of his mistakes, When Godzilla is getting ready to fight Rodan and he gets out of the water, you can see the edge of the tank. So he hid the edge with a tree, and it feels obvious. Some of the roars are mixed around. It's understandable, because Godzilla vs Mothra came out that year too, and I can only imagine how much rushing they did, It must have been a very hard job. |

Indeed: Mothra Vs Godzilla was released to theaters in Japan in late April, 1964. Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster followed just eight months later in theaters in December, 1964. I noticed when Rodan first flew upwards out of the crater at Mt. Aso Godzilla's roar was briefly used. Never could figure out how that miscue happened.

Mothra had many Sequels because of the strong Female Fanbase, Rodan isn't that popular. So I dout a Rodan 2 movie would ever happen. |

In my opinion, the King Ghidorah suit used in Mothra 3 is the suit that should've been used in GMK. That was quite possibly the best King Ghidorah suit ever made. |

I watched this movie again this past weekend. The film itself is very good. From the actors to the monsters, it was very well done. My ONLY complaint is the head/puppet battles between Godzilla and Rodan. Ehhhhh. |

I'd love to see what LP could/would do with King Ghidorah. He would make an awesome first monster opponent for their Godzilla. |

While I think the King Ghidorah suit used in Mothra 3 is the best Ghidorah suit, I think that it wouldn't work for GMK since the Ghidorah from M3 looks evil and because of that wouldn't work for the hero role.

I love this movie. It's one of my faves, and the monster cast is more than I could ask for. It's got my top three favorite monsters in it in Rodan, Godzilla, and Ghidorah. Mothra is up there, but not like these guys. I loved the cast and story, and there was plenty of stuff going on, though the monster action didn't really get moving until the last twenty minutes or so of the movie. |

I watched the English language version of Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster(1964) just a little while ago. There's really nothing I can add about this movie that I haven't already said. I do think, after some consideration, that this movie would be my first preferred choice as a Toho remake. With updated special effects this movie could IMO be spectacular, especially if Shusuke Kaneko were to direct.

The second of the three Showa Godzilla movies (between Mothra vs. Godzilla and Invasion of Astro Monster) that to me, represented the high point of the Godzilla series. And not just with the monsters and such. But with the actors also. As usual, the actors and actresses that Toho employed at the time were really top notch and added a great human element to these movies. |

On this day(December 20th) way back in 1964 the kaiju "King Ghidorah" made his first cinematic appearance in Toho's Three Giant Monsters: The Greatest Battle On Earth. In the west we know this film by it's American(and international) title: Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster. This film remains one of my all time favorite kaiju movies. This monster, a golden skinned, three headed space dragon, has gone on to appear in numerous other Toho kaiju films and is now, along with Mothra and Mechagodzilla, considered to be Godzilla's greatest and most powerful on screen rival. The HD Toho trailer: It was announced not too long ago that King Ghidorah has been slated to appear in the 2018 sequel to Legendary Pictures' Godzilla(2014). ![]() Happy 50th birthday to King Ghidorah! |

Well, after a movie night with a few friends, my buddy that's been going through the Godzilla series with me hung around and we caught Ghidorah the three headed monster. There wasn't much to notice in this film that I haven't already seen in previous entries. He definitely had fun with this one, but he hyped himself up for it before hand. He was amused when Mothra shot her silk at Godzilla to stop the fight, then as Rodan is laughing and begins getting silked, he just erupted with laughter. It's fun watching with someone who doesn't see this as silly guys in monster suits, but who can take the movies for what they are and even enjoy the moments of humor. This movie, along with the first battle in GvsMG2, makes me long for a Godzilla vs. Rodan movie. |
