Ok well since I don't really have the strength to go out in my free time so usually I've been playing a lot of video games lately. I have a Wii but the prison cell I mean dorm room they provide for us is a bit small and you know how the Wii games are...lots of movement. So the Wii isn't working too well right now. So I'm debating on getting either a PS3 or a Xbox 360...problem is I don't know which one to get. So I'm hoping someone can list their reasons as to why they got whatever system and some top level games (*note* XBox owners I don't like the Halo series so don't try to sell me on that alone). Thanks ;) |

I own both of those systems, and I'm a believer that you should probably buy the one that has the most games that you would actually want to play. The PS3 is more expensive but is also more attractive as an all-around entertainment unit because it has blu-ray built in and wireless internet capability built in (60 or 80 gb version) and includes a web browser and free online play if you are into that. Microsofts XBOX 360, on the other hand is cheaper, has a much larger library of available games, and a more active online service. The catch with Microsoft's setup is that if you want anything extra like the PS3 has, it is going to cost you. An HD-DVD add-on player runs about 170.00 and a wireless internet adapter costs about 100.00. Microsoft's xbox live online service costs money also- 50.00 per year. All those features are cool but what it really comes down to is the games. What kind of games do you like? You said you werent big on Halo so Im guessing you arent a fan of first-person shooters. Do you like fighting games? XBOX 360 has Dead or Alive 4 and will soon be getting Virtua Fighter 5 with online capabilities. PS3 has Tekken 5 and most likely get Tekken 6 exclusively. Both systems will get Soul Calibur 4. Personally I'm a fan of adventure type games, and in this category it's a toss-up. Heavenly sword was recently released for PS3, and although short, it's a beautiful game. While feeling a bit similar to the God Of War series, it still stands on its own merits and delivers an almost movie-like experience. Great game. There are alot more of these third-person action/adventure style games coming soon, for both systems, with Assasin's creed, Devil may cry 4, Kane and Lynch, etc. What kind of games do you play? That's what it really comes down to. |

Well i am a fan of FPS games I just don't like the Halo series...but I think I'm going to go get the 80Gig PS3 in the near future. Granted it's a tad expensive, I know I will play it more than I would an XBOX 360. It just sucks for that price I have to buy the HDMI cord :-/ Thanks for the info though, it was helpful ;) |

When you get your PS3, be sure to add me as a friend on there - my tag is joshTX. I only own 4 games for the PS3 but I think they are some of the best on the system - Resistance: Fall Of Man is a great FPS and a good Halo alternative. Warhawk is a massive online multiplayer war game - another you can play for hours on end and never experience the same thing twice. Heavenly Sword and Ninja Gaiden Sigma are two of the best adventure games I have played in a long time. I could easily recommend any of these. I'm planning on picking up either NBA 2K8 or NBA Live 08 this time around since I skipped 07. The reviews are out and both of these games received pretty favorable nods from the panels. About the HDMI cord, be sure to check ebay before you plunk down the cash at CC or best buy. Ebay sellers will often have the same cords for half the price. I think I spent less than 20 for my HDMI cable and have had no issues. thumbs up |

Good info, I'll have to wait on the online games/content though...the barracks here on;y have dial-up and where my room is located I can't get onto any wireless access points :-/ Not much of a sports game player (which is crazy since I love sports) but I will definitely check out the other games you recommended. I'm also going to pick up a few PS2 titles too. And I'll be sure to check Ebay for the cable. thanks for the heads up ;) |

Trent if you can I'd go with the 60GB PS3 as opposed to the 80Gig exspecially if you plan on playing PS2 and PS1 games. The 80 gig PS3 does software emulation so you'll have to download updates where as the 60GB has an Emotion Engine chip which allows for full Backwards compatiablity. The cool thing about the PS3 is that you can add your own HDD later so if you feel that 60GB isn't enough space then just buy a new laptop HDD and pop that in. |

Well I don't plan on playing a lot of PS2 games, just a few classic fighters. But that's some good information to know. If I can get my hands on a 60 GB PS3 I'll definitely get it. |
