This thread is to discuss Atari and Pipeworks upcoming Godzilla unleashed title for the Wii and PS2. You can also discuss the Nintendo DS or PSP iterations of the game if you wish. Right now, the title is tentatively scheduled for release on or around November 15th, 2007. For more info on characters and game features, check out any of the major gaming sites. I, for one am really excited about the release of this title and will most likely pick it up the day it is released. Can't wait to tear through Tokyo and Sydney as Godzilla, Jet Jaguar, or Titanosauraus, plus a slew of other monsters.

for the PS2 and Wii versions of the game
Are these versions different, Josh? If they are what are the primary differences?

Besides the differences in playable kaiju, the 2 games are quite a bit different. The PS2 version is similar to previous Godzilla titles but the Wii version was rebuilt completely to take advantage of the new motion controller technology. All the kaiju have new animations and control alot differently than their PS2 counterparts. They can also do alot of things you cant do in the PS2 version, like walk and use your beam attack at the same time. The story, the stages and most of the features are the same but the Wii version is quite a bit different of an experience.

Your detailed answer, Josh, suggests a great familiarity with both Wii and the "Playstation" platforms. Do you currently own more than one game platform right now? heyo

I own quite a few gaming machines, Lee, but as far as the current generation of systems, I have a XBOX 360 and a Playstation 3. The PS3 can play PS2 games so I picked up Godzilla Unleashed for PS2. My cousin has a Wii and picked up the Wii version of the game.

Personally, I would buy a Wii for myself but I dont really have the time for another console. I also dont really have a whole lot of extra space in my living room to be swinging around the wiimote controller to play the games.

Even though it isn't the newest Godzilla game, my favorite is Godzilla: Save The Earth for XBOX. You can play it on the xbox 360 and go online as well and it doesnt have alot of the problems that the recently released Unleashed has. Check my reviews thread if you want to read about some of the issues with Godzilla Unleashed for the PS2.

I can't wait to get this game, both versions. Biollante and Varan kick ass.

EDIT: just got the PS2 version today.

uh...is this acttually supposed to be Godzilla: Unleashed? Seriously! WTF!?

I do have a question, though, to anyone who has played: How do you do power surges? I get into a mode that looks like rage ( i think it's critical mass), then I press O+X, like it says in the book, and i have collected surges, but then I just taunt.

Who needs Toho Kingdom anyway? I'm a member at Monsterland Forums! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

I find the term "Zombie" to be offensive. I prefer to be called Vitality Impaired.

The surges in the PS2 version are basically non-existent. You can gain life or power by breaking crystals but you can't go into a critical mass the way you do in the Wii version.

God, this version sucks. Now I understand the hate on it. WAY too many aweful glitches, and the graphics are an eyesore(and i really don't mind graphics in most games). Obsidius is cool though. Even though he is a reskinning of Orga, I still do alot better with Obsidius then with Orga. Last night, i cranked the difficulty up to hard, Fired up Obsidius, Got into story mode, and I just KILLED EVERTHING, FRIEND OR FOE, THAT STOOD IN MY WAY! HA, HA, HAAAA!!!!!1111111!!!!!!!!11111111!!!!!ZORZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!1111111

Did you read my review of this game? Your feelings basically sum up the gist of it. Yeah it feels like very little effort was put into the PS2 version of Unleashed. And I hate to say this, but the Wii version honestly wasn't too special either. Its just too slow and clunky, even for Giant monsters.

You Know, I think I'll find that the pros seriously outweigh the cons when I finally get it B)
