The latest threat to those who like to surf the web is a phenomenom called "clickjacking". To read more about what this is click the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nf/20081008/bs_nf/62355

Ok, I let my son use my computer, and now, everytime I use Yahoo or Google to search for something, it opens up another window or tab and takes me to links like Blinx or Shopica, etc., and not to the direct links like it use to. I've used AdAware and my Viruscan to find whatever's on here, but it's not detecting anything. Any suggestions?

Have you tried AVG Anti-Spyware(free)? Last year a trojan malware entered my secondary computer after I inadvertently clicked some link or ad on a webpage. I started getting pop ups warning me there was an impending security threat to my computer unless I clicked the link in the popup to download some program I'd never heard of. I went to a message board that was computer security themed and discovered the malware was actually listed in this site's database, and that AVG Anti-Spyware would snag and quarantine it. It did. I also read numerous reference to AVG Anti-Spyware being adept at catching these annoying adware and malware programs.

I've also heard that Avast's freeware anti-spyware(and anti-virus) programs are good: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

he might have re routed you from those sites. i did the same with my high school deputy and his questionable breaktime sites when i got bored and hacked the school network... if not you might have a virus and just go into the control panel, Internet connections and then restore your default homepage. ;)

Blah, nothing new or exciting. Considering you can surf the web just about on everything now, I consider this a small novelty not worth bothering over.

Can't wait for the next Firefox to be released. I've had nothing but good experiences since switching from IE. Just sucks that some times my add-ons don't work when a new version comes out

Actually you're wrong you can't surf the web on a PS1 or Xbox 360, the internet was in it's infancy still when the PS1 launched and the Xbox 360 MS didn't include a browser because well they view that people have a Computer for that sort of thing. Plus surfing the web over a TV is rather pointless IMHO.

As for tech news, Intel should be releasing a new processor type called the I9 which is sort of like their I7 processor type only the I9s give you 8 cores (meaning you essentially have 8 different cpus on one chip). I7 processors I believe have six cores.

I'm content with my Core 2 Duo E8400 processor that runs at 3.0Ghz.

I will be this fall upgrading other components of my computer, going to be adding in a new video card (Nvidia GTX285 or 275 haven't decided) putting in double the RAM I have now for a grand total of 8GBs (sadly my PC will be maxed out on RAM) a new sound card (X-Fi Fata1tly Pro PCI-E) and another HDD (a 1.5 Terabyte drive) bringing my total to 2TB of space.

I also plan on getting a new laptop since I'm going to be having all online classes this semester and a mew wireless N router it's actually a gaming router.

Can't wait.

It would be nice if the software was out there to really make good use of these multi-core processors...I use to rush out and get the newest chips but now, there is no point in doing so.

Supposedly Windows 7 and these new procesoors will actually take the program and disturbute it evenly over the eight cores.

As for me upgrading I usually do one big build when I get a new computer and casually upgrade.

My current computer will be two years old this upcoming Febuary and that's an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, Nvidia 8800GT, 500GB HDD, and an old Audigy 2 ZS that I've been using for years now, as for my OS I have Windows Vista Ultimate and I honestly do not under stand the hate it gets. Like I said I'm going to upgrade this Fall and I should be set till next fall when I plan adding in a new motherboard and one of those i9 processors. I also have to add new memory modules because I think the motherboards will only support DDR3 then and I've only got DDR2 but other than that I'll be using my same sound card, HDDs, video card, speakers, optical drives (DVD-ROM and Burner), monitor and probably the same case unless I come across something that looks nice.
