Not sure of the differences between a LCD and plasma hi-def TV? You will be, after you read this excellent article, which explains them, and touches on the pros and cons of both technologies: http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/179/lcd-or-plasma-hdtvs-which-to-choose/

Thinking of buying a discounted hi-def flat panel LCD or plasma TV from Circuit City during this company's bankruptcy related liquidation of their stores inventories? Before you do you might want to read this article: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/124232

You definitely take a big risk considering you can't return the item, especially with the high dollar easily breakable stuff. And honestly I didn't find the discounts to be worth the risk, at least not at my local CC.

Same here, the only good stuff was that the PS3 controllers were 30% off but they were gobbled up very early on.

All Circuit City stores will be closed by March 8th of this year: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/patterson/43371

From what I've read of the various liquidations going on at these stores, the ineptitude of this company lingers even in the final days and months of this sixty year old electronics retailer. Example: most of these inventory liquidations are only offering 20% discounts on laptops and desktops...considering the necessity this company has to liquidate all or as much of its inventory as possible this level of discount is not only surprising, it's also absurd. winky

So long Circuit City, you brought about your own demise...as for those liquidation sales...pure joke. The only major discount was the markdown on video game accessories and everyone jumped on them as soon as liquidation started.

Considering the advances made with companies like Netflix and the digital download movies, it seems like the writing's on the wall for the old fashioned brick and mortar style video rental.

Personally, I haven't used blockbuster for years. It's expensive. I remember paying something like 4 or 5 bucks for a movie rental and like 6 or 7 for a videogame rental. Netflix has plans that run for 10 or 15 bucks a month unlimited movies that far exceed the value of renting from a local blockbuster. Just my opinion, but it seems like a better value.

3-D LCD and plasma TVs are already on the market. 3-D Blu-Ray DVD players aren't...yet, but they will be and likely by 2011: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/patterson/44773

If you believe the following article by tech blogger Christopher Null HDTV prices have already bottomed out...and may begin rising again in the near future: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/142023

I paid over $600 for a top of the line 32" Samsung model LCD HDTV about two months ago(I gave my 2007 32" Olevia LCD HDTV to a friend whose own HDTV broke after he accidentally dropped it while moving it to an upstairs room in his house).

I want to buy a second, "ecomony" model 32" LCD HDTV for my back room and I'm hoping Brands Mart will have some good sales on these units in November and December. winky

I don't have a Costco membership but I was in there to pickup a prescription (pharmacy is open to the public) and browsed the TV's while waiting for the scrip to be filled. They had some decent looking VIZIO 32" HDTV's for 400, don't know if that's a great price or not but the in-store display looked pretty good.
