Thanks for asking—there are several, but I am awaiting confirmation. Right now, I know that I am participating in the DESTROY ALL MONSTERS 40th Anniversary and the State of the Industry panels. I will also be hosting respective presentations on Eiji Tsuburaya and Ultraman. |

These panels are basically "Q & A" sessions with G-Fest patrons sitting in on them, right? The "state of the industry" panel sounds especially interesting. thumbs up |

 Robert Scott Field (Ultra Seven 2-1), Don Frye (Captain Gordon from FINAL WARS) and moi this past Saturday. Group, I just flew in from Chicago last night, and (no, I'm not going to say, "Boy are my arms tired") I'm still zonked -- not from the hours of travel (Chicago to San Francisco via Phoenix), but when I was picked up at SFO, Rachel said, "Deathguild?" So, off we went to drink. It must have been the pressurization, because the first drink when straight to my head. G-Fest was a great time. Met some really cool folks. I got a lot of love. Singed a lot of books (we sold out on Saturday morning!). Drank "Godzilla Blood" on Sunday night (thanks, Jay). Ate Baked Clams and real Chicago-style pizza (thanks to Danny & Joey). Had a lot of laughs. Got ripped on by UFC Champ and star of GODZILLA FINAL WARS, Don Frye (he made me laugh for hours during the autograph sessions). Had a wonderful private dinner with Haruo Nakajima, the original Godzilla suit actor (thanks Tom & Diane). Plus, one of the forms of Ultraseven 2-1, Robert Scott Field, was there as a guest, too (he's best known as Android M-11 in GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH). But, I only got to go into Chicago, proper, the day I flew out. Between my sessions at the event, pressing flesh and signing my books, I hardly left the hotel. Now, while I feel bad that I didn't get to meet -- or even call -- some Chicagoans I had promised to catch up with, I still had a great time because of some local knuckle-heads, namely Danny and Joey. Even though we've communicated in the past (for years), we had never met in person before, but it was like we had always known each other. Crazy (interestingly enough, we even have mutual friends in the music scene). Lots of toku in the dealers room, not just Godzilla stuff, and plenty of Ultraman merchandise. There were also sessions on Henshin Heroes, Ultraman, The Space Giants, and some toku heroes on the in-house television channel -- imagine waking up and seeing ULTRAMAN TIGA & ULTRAMAN DYNA on your hotel room TV? Good times, good times! (Now, I am going to play with my Aoshima Type 66 Maser Cannon I scored this weekend!) :) Edited by August, Jul 9 2008, 01:12 PM.

I'm not as well versed in G lore as some of you, so Haruo Nakajima was a new name for me. I looked him up on imdb and man, I had no idea he was such a veteran of the Godzilla franchise. He's been in over a dozen Godzilla movies and he even played Rodan! That's just impressive.
