Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. I decided that Freddy Krueger deserved his own topic here. Mr. Green

Anyway I'm a big fan of the series, mostly because of the "Killer in your dream" idea since it makes it different from the other slashers made before it. noddy

The first one is a classic with good special effects (For the budget and year it was made), characters and soundtrack... while the sequels to follow were not as good as the first and lost the horror side (Well ANOES 2 is mainly horror but it was more disappointing the the other sequels IMO, ANOES 3 had the horror/comedy side and New Nightmare was the return of the horror), I still enjoy watching them. winky

Also Freddy Krueger is one of my favorite characters. FreddyK

I was not enamored with the concept for this movie's storyline, in which the characters play themselves and Freddy enters the real world and into their lives. It had its moments but overall I just didn't like it as much as the NOES films that preceded it.

I'll rank them as thus:

1. A Nightmare On Elm Street (a classic...what more can I say?)

2. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (great sequel that ties in very well to the first making it seem like the most true sequel of the bunch and last one I genuinely liked)

3. A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (nice gothic tone with some elements of potential and creative new ideas in the mix however is kinda ruined by a sloppy rashed production)

4. A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (While not the worst film in the world kinda a seemed cheep and unimpressive with dull kills and a plot that goes nowhere and looked at time more like a bad music video then a movie)

5. Freddy Vs Jason (a gimmick and with very annoying characters but a few moments to save it from being a total mess you can have fun with it in a party environment)

6. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (to it's credit it did bring back the darker elements it just isn't a overly good movie....it just didn't over anything really worth while but as I said best part is Freddy's Trench coat)

7. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (Well things were getting too goofy for my tastes but Englund at least keeps some level of watchability and even as my second worst still would makes a decent film if a few people were around and enough alcohol was in my system)

8. A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (sorry Packmule I gotta agree with Matthew and say this film was a total disaster, with as he stated the embarrassing gay undertones, cheep almost telemovie look and the fact it didn't seem to know what direction to take the series)

The trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxtNWi4a0s0

I liked the Jason-Freddy battles. The way Kelly Rowland's character was killed gives new meaning to the phrase "barking up a wrong tree".

One problem I always had about FvJ is that it's clear from the start that Jason in Going to win as the whole film seem to use Freddy as more of a point point for Jason....I mean even if people like Jason more I think that a less one sided film would have gone much better....at least Freddy got a temporary advantage in the dream world

I would say, thinking about all of the NOES films, that the most creative "kills" by Fred Krueger were, IMO, from A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors(1987).

I would agree to that...Nightmare 3 was a refreshingly creative horror comedy and that is one of the reasons I hold it in high regard

here's my rank of Freddy Make-up

1: A Nightmare on elm street (though you mostly see it in the dark)

2: A Nightmare on elm street 3 - The Dream Warriors (Maybe the most detailed but less imposing then the original)

3: Freddy vs Jason (no complaints here and yes my top 3 are the same)

4: A Nightmare on elm street 5 - The Dream Child (I dunno I kinda like the Make-up on this one)

5: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge (looks more witch like but has an edge to it still)

6: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - The Dream Master (looks like a lazy version of the make-up from 3)

7: Freddy's Dead - The final Nightmare (alot less detailed the previous versions)

8: New Nightmare (Rubbery and didn't look like burns....pretty bad make-up work)

I'd have to say Nancy was the best as she kinda had more of a trustworthy face and kinda had more of a believability to her and she was hardly cowardly......and Jessie was the worst.....for reasons that are pretty clear

Two: his first kill(the young blonde girl) in A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984) and the poor slob who was forced, by Krueger, to eat himself to death, in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors(1987)(I think it was the third one).

I only have the first "ANOES" on DVD. Hopefully by the end of this year I'll have them all. winky

That kill happened in A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, also the character wasn't a guy but a girl. winky

My favourite death would have to be the marionette death from Nightmare 3....now that was a creative kill scene

High expectations was what I had for this film. NOES 3. And they were met. My expectations were high because of he Dokken video and the praise i has gotten. Here real quick is a review:

the good: most of the original score from the first film was kept. Some of the imagery was effective like th room with the dead haning kids. Heather L. and John S. came back.

Bad-christianity ties, deam wizard, not counting the events of NOES 2 a fave of mine, ed credits having studio version of Dream Warriors with shortened intro.

That is that. I liked it. I wanted to do this fast because I got some stuff to do. And so, overall about this one, it has changed my ratings about the series. Here is ow everything stands:

NOES1/NOES3 tied in first
NN/NOES2 ties in second
Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream child/Freddy's Dead

I still have to see number 4...
