I decided that Freddy Krueger deserved his own topic here. Mr. Green

Anyway I'm a big fan of the series, mostly because of the "Killer in your dream" idea since it makes it different from the other slashers made before it. noddy

The first one is a classic with good special effects (For the budget and year it was made), characters and soundtrack... while the sequels to follow were not as good as the first and lost the horror side (Well ANOES 2 is mainly horror but it was more disappointing the the other sequels IMO, ANOES 3 had the horror/comedy side and New Nightmare was the return of the horror), I still enjoy watching them. winky

Also Freddy Krueger is one of my favorite characters. FreddyK

And let me also suggest you watch them in the order they were released, when you do get around to watching them. winky

Ok, this is an actual review on Nightmare On El Street 3: Dream Warriors.

My Expectations: I expected alot out of this movie. My only NOES DVD (Infinifilm DVD with limited edition box cover) claims that freddy is darker, Dokken's best MV and most successful song was Dream Warriors, which plays at the end credits, and Nancy returns. But how did the film reach.

What Happened: I watched it, and it was alittle off it's rocker. Before I saw this one, everyone who knew me knew I liked NOES 2 the most. Why? Originality, Darkness, score was good, plot and charaters were likable, and some scary images (red cat eats freddy rat). Now, this film is more like a John Carpenter style film. Not that much gore here, if that is what you want. Instead, we got some regular teenagers with the usual intrests of the time period who are dealing with freddy. But unlike the other two instalments, we got kids burning themselves with ciggarets, cutting themselves and other acts. Anything to stay awake. This was kind of interesting and original. Not to mention the hung children room.

But let's go to the negatives. First, the Harryhousen-inspired Bone Freddy attack. Bad as hell. Second, there is some missing pieces in the whole relationship of Nacy and John. I thought they got closer due to the events in the first film. Second, when Freddy-John appears, should he have told nancy he was killed by freddy before he started the "otherside speach". And the religeous angle. God, stop using it. Every horror story has some religeous bull crap taken out of context. crap. And honestly, the nerd who was in the wheelchair was so f*cking stupid.

Overall, the film is a good film. While some stuff does need to be taken out, it has enough to be entertaining.

Overall: 9/10

I posted them on the first page on this thread, but here are my reasons:

Part 2's homosexual tone (IMO doesn't work well with the serious tone)

Freddy attacking people during the pool party scene (Many of the teens are bigger then him.. IMO they could have fought back)

The human faced dogs (I didn't like it)

The Exploding bird (Another Idea I didn't like)

The Kills (IMO Not very creative... a guy getting stripped naked and whipped by towels is one of my least favorite Freddy kills)

^But those are unique points that is why I liked number two. But the whole homosexual thing is blown put of proportion. Sure, the main teen is a guy who takes on a feminine role but he is not gay. And the gay bar scene was a good "twist" in developing the character of the coach before he was offed.

Well they didn't work for me and I view them in a negative way, but if you like them I'm fine with that. winky

Also, lets not get into an argument about ANOES 2, since we both see the film differently. topper

Thoes two elements just subtracted from the scare element of the film. The wheel chair was good, but the whole nerd-spell saying was just awful. And the religeon context was bad, for it was a cheap way out of the film. The only way to really kill Freddy is to kill all who know about him, including yourself. But no, instead they wanted to continue the franchise and go cheap...

Each to their own, I was fine with the religious things and the teen in the wheelchair. topper

Also, I liked how they continued the franchise since Freddy wouldn't be as famous as he is now and he wouldn't have the personality I use for my fanfics. winky

Yes, however now they are going to remake ANOES.... I would have preferred a film to end the series, but horror icons like Freddy never die.

Has anyone ever watched Freddy's Nightmares, the TV series in which Robert Englund, as "Freddy Krueger", hosted television episodes?

I get Chiller(TV) as one of my program channels with my A T & T U-Verse U200 package. I noticed a couple of days ago that this channel was airing some "Freddy's Nightmares" episodes.

This series aired for two seasons, from 1988-1989, and had a run of forty four(44) episodes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094466/

I have seen bits and pieces. But I know that the UK released two dvds, making a total of 6 episodes released and I know a bootleg source that made r0 copies of the same dvds. But I heard Freddy doesn't really make an apperance.

Not so much in the episodes but rather at the beginning and end of each episode, as the "host" of each episode. winky

From what I watched of one particular episode, it seemed far less entertaining than the ANOES films.

Has anyone here read and knows the Peter Jackson's A Nightmare on Elm Street 6: The Dream Lover script? Since I'm interested in reading it to see if it would be better or worst then what Rachel Talalay made. noddy

^I have heard of it, but I do not think it is out on the internet or ebay.

Since we are talking about Freddy's Dead, they should have used some of the unused parts of the Wes Craven story for NOES3. Really, the only way to actualy kill Freddy is to kill all who know about him, including yourself. Then he will be gone. Esxept in the New Nightmare universe.

I just remembered something, while it is a fanfilm Freddy vs Ghostbusters is IMO well made and I would rank it in-between A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. topper

Also since they are remaking ANOES (I still dislike the idea of remaking it) I think they should hire Bradley J. Roddy, the actor who was Freddy in Freddy vs Ghostbusters since he is IMO the closest actor to Robert Englund that can be Freddy Krueger. Mr. Smiles

Damn, I would have liked to read it. sadlyicon

I also think that calling it "The Dream Lover" makes it sound like a porno film. very funny

IMO that would have been a better ending, but I'm sure that New Line would have found a way to bring he back still. winky
