This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

I decided that Freddy Krueger deserved his own topic here. Mr. Green

Anyway I'm a big fan of the series, mostly because of the "Killer in your dream" idea since it makes it different from the other slashers made before it. noddy

The first one is a classic with good special effects (For the budget and year it was made), characters and soundtrack... while the sequels to follow were not as good as the first and lost the horror side (Well ANOES 2 is mainly horror but it was more disappointing the the other sequels IMO, ANOES 3 had the horror/comedy side and New Nightmare was the return of the horror), I still enjoy watching them. winky

Also Freddy Krueger is one of my favorite characters. FreddyK

^I would like to see a revamp of the series from Part three and there on. The first three films were perfect. But then it got bad. I would like to see:

a film that has a guy girl protagonist team up. We have the usual formula of the girl being the main hero, untill the end which we found out that the film has been hinting at the guy being the real hero, the "Tommy Jarvis" of the series. Kills the girl, and starts killing all who know Freddy Krueger. End scene is freddy comming after him. He wakes up, knowing that next time will be his last. So he stays up for 9 days. Medical Science says 10 days will kill you. So he has three choices: be killed by own bodily shut down or be killed by Freddy or scuicide. But if he chooses suicide, he looks at the crucifix on his wall. He knows scuicide is a one way ticket to hell, but will doing something for the good of humanity redeem him when he meets his maker? Is he willing to that that chance? He chooses scuicide. Freddy is forever gone. No crappy dream demonds and no one who knows of Freddy Krueger.

If it is true that Michael Bay says that Robert Englund is too old.. but goes and hires Billy Bob Thorton?? There is maybe 5 years difference??

This series was perfectly ripe for the prequel.. And Englund would still be perfect.. since its never really been said (nor does it matter) how old Freddy was when he was killed by the parents. And Robert is fully infavor of doing it, especially since he would not have to undergo the full make up everyday.

I think it would do just as well, if not better, than a remake.

Bay needs to stick to what he is good at.. Blowing stuff up in sci-fi movies.. and leave horror alone!

Some horror message boards have mentioned actor Ben Foster as possibly being cast as the next "Freddy Krueger". Here's a link about Foster, who is a pretty good actor by the way: http://www.thecinemasource.com/celebrity/interviews/Ben-Foster-Finally-Able-to-Spread-his-Wings-interview-284-0.html

Thats cool if you don't like it. I just don't get why someone wants to see their favorite Dream Demon play video games instead, of slashing teens on the face.

I used to like it alot more, but after watching it a few more times I really am not a fan of it, the only things I like about FvsJ are:

The Fight Scenes

Freddy's Burn Makeup

The Special Effects

Yeah, that's all I like about it, stuff like The characters, Freddy's death and The Ending I didnt like.

The latest update on the ANOES remake would seem to confirm what we fans of this horror movie franchise have long suspected, and feared: that Robert Englund will not reprise the role of "Freddy Krueger" and also will not appear in the remake in even a cameo. The ANOES remake now has a director: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/30396/nightmare-elm-street-remake-gets-a-director

Late edit: there's a rumor that actor Jackie Earle Haley has been cast to play "Fred Krueger" in the ANOES remake. To see an image of Mr. Haley and read more about this rumor click the link: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/15287

One more edit: shooting for the ANOES remake will begin on 4/27/09.

I just watched the first A Nightmare on Elm Street the other night. Not bad. I think it's a bit more dated than I'd like, and a lot of the acting could be better. But overall, it was pretty good. That part in the hallway with Tina getting dragged away was creepy. And Robert Englund was, of course, fantastic as Fred Krueger.

Thanks. Mr. Smiles I know you're a big fan of the series, so you'll probably kill me for this, but I'm thinking about just skipping to New Nightmare and watching it. I guess I'm more of a Wes Craven fan than a Freddy fan, and the two he directed are the ones I'm most interested in seeing.

Nah, I am not going to kill you for skipping straight to New Nightmare, since I think the ANOES films where Wes Craven was involved are best ones, still when you have spare time, go and watch Part 2-FvsJ. topper

Good to know. Mr. Smiles I might do that sometime.

Watched New Nightmare last night.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994) - 9/10.

Awesome movie. Really enjoyed this one. I think it's a great companion piece for the first Nightmare, and an even better film overall. I may end up giving this an even higher rating in the future.

I love how Wes Craven blurs the lines between reality and fiction. And I love how he sees himself as a storyteller that can bring things to life. Freddy Krueger may be a movie character. He may just be in our nightmares. But that doesn't make him any less real.
