I decided that Freddy Krueger deserved his own topic here. Mr. Green

Anyway I'm a big fan of the series, mostly because of the "Killer in your dream" idea since it makes it different from the other slashers made before it. noddy

The first one is a classic with good special effects (For the budget and year it was made), characters and soundtrack... while the sequels to follow were not as good as the first and lost the horror side (Well ANOES 2 is mainly horror but it was more disappointing the the other sequels IMO, ANOES 3 had the horror/comedy side and New Nightmare was the return of the horror), I still enjoy watching them. winky

Also Freddy Krueger is one of my favorite characters. FreddyK

Seeing the last two pages, I got to say, I am digging the new design, especialy when depicted in a toy form. Looks diffrent enough from the original design and yet actualy resembles the advanced posters for the original series pre-Final Nightmare.

Posted today at Horror Asylum: there are going to be some re-shoots of scenes from the ANOES remake film and also some additional scenes added, presumably because some advance screenings of this film haven't exactly blown anyone's doors off.

Looks like the wait may be worth it, Gregg as some nw images from the ANOES remake "re-shoot" have appeared online. A new trailer is also reportedly being planned. Read more: http://www.horror-movies.ca/horror_17646.html

I came across this new one sheet poster image(which I like) for the ANOES remake film. Here's the the thumbnail of it:

Platinum Dunes has released a second trailer for the upcoming A Nightmare On Elm Street(2010) film. To see it click the link:

I like this trailer: Fred Krueger is way more menacing in this trailer which I think will be well received by ANOES fans. thumbz up

Bringing back "Mahakaal: The Monster" from a few earlier pages, here's a short clip I found of the film:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eottzHqa0KM

I found it a little bit funny how the actress spoke two words of English and also had to act like she was being beaten up by the invisible creature. very funny

But, I'm a little bit interested in seeing the whole film... it might cost a lot of money for me to get but it would be counted as a rare DVD to have here. big grin

I agree. While I think it unlikely I will like the ANOES remake as much as the 1984 classic with Robert Englund, I do think Jackie Earle Haley is the right actor for the "Krueger" character. Watching him portray "Rorschach" in the film Watchmen convinced me of that. winky

If nothing else this remake might spur interest in younger horror fans to see the original ANOES movies made from 1984-1994. FreddyK

I like it. topper

Anyway, the second trailer was better then the first and I really liked the Diner dream with the guy, the music in the background was the perfect choice and the supermarket scene as well. Mr. Smiles

However, I still don't like the voice (It was better then the first trailer's voice) and the makeup still reminds me of a burnt Voldermort, also when the guy says "Don't Fall Asleep" was IMO not a good line delivery and the near ending scene of Freddy coming out the wall didn't look good because of the CGI. boredd

Well, I'm interested in watching it and I hope they have the long arms scene in the alley without the usage of CGI in it. topper

I got Mahakaal: The Monster (The India Elm Street rip-off) and have just finished watching it. winky

WARNING: SPOILERS

Since the film was originally made and finished in the 80's, I decided to look at it as a 80's horror rather then a 90's horror... and I must say that it was much better then I was expecting it to be. noddy

While it does have scenes and ideas taking away from the first Elm Street (Examples: The school nightmare and boyfriend of the first victim witnessing his GF's death and getting thrown in jail) and little things from the sequels (Examples: The waterbed death from Part 4 and possessing the main character like in Part 2). boredd

It does however have a few creative twists and ideas of its own (Examples: The first victim as a zombie-like creature attacking the main character, instead of being hung, the guy gets bitten to death by venomous snakes coming out of the walls and the villain had already a deformed face and uses black magic). topper

While it also does have music taken from the first and second nightmare films, while the music from the first ANOES works well with the movie, the music from Freddy's Revenge (Part 2) feels a little out of place IMO but the film does have its own original music. Mr. Smiles

Another thing is the special effect, sometimes they are good (Example: Clawed Hands bursting out of the ground) but some are bad (Example: The makeup on the villain)... still not bad for a very low budget film (Lower then the first ANOES), overall I give Mahakaal: The Monster a 6/10 and thanks for reading. smilegrin

The word, Evan is "misconstrued" by the way. CrowT1

Matthew, your great fondness for the ANOES films is well known around this message board. You probably know more about the ANOES films than any other member at MF. I can vouch for Evan(G2KMaster) when I tell you that his comment you referenced was meant as a compliment or, at the very least, just a positive acknowledgment of your being a fan of the ANOES films and the franchise in general.

Here is a link to (what I think) how Chamillionaire feels about these films: http://www.chamillionaire.com/home/chamillionaire-talks-nightmare-on-elm-street-reveals-his-most-frightening-nightmare.html

I personally haven't seen this film, but then again I'm not into bloody/horror movies because, well, they're too scary fo' me.

I saw the new film and wasn't impressed. I wouldn't say it's exactly dreadful, it's certainly watchable, but just seems like an inferior remake of the first movie. Some bits are recreated but not as well. The dreams are unimaginative and there's little real fear, just a series of jump scares. It also looks like every other Platiumum Dunes [I'm really starting to hate them] movie.

As I said it's not atrocious, butas with the Friday remake it seems like didn't really try very hard. I still think there's great potential for a modern Freddy movie,I'd love to see someone like Guillerno Del Toro do one.

Well, IDK if anyone here has seen it, but if you have, here are deleted scenes and some other stuff from the remake:

http://nightmareonelmstreetfilms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3535

Some of those deleted scenes look kick ass! Why they were deleted I do not know why. Sometimes I wish I was the editor with these films. And as a side note, NOES is now the most successful remake of all the slasher remakes with a box office total of $100,000,000+. Not surprised. Freddy will always be on top. Now if only they would actualy make a good film, I have no doubts that the films would go on to make similar buisness like what SHUTTER ISLAND did.

Well, when the DVD comes out of this film, I will have fun making on a VHS a fan edit.

Well, I had the pleasure of watching the NOES remake. In terms of the Platinum Dunes remakes, it is the best one they have done yet. It didn't go FT13 on us by breaking out the Night Rider tunes too early (should be none at all), and well, it was a good attempt.

The best things about the film is the whole "micronaps" thing. The whole "is this real or a dream" quality of the original is lost here, and it is sad too because the micronaps thing would have been a good thing to help keep that quality.

I also have to commend on Mr. Haley's take on Freddy. It is not as iconic as Englund's but it is still a solid performance. I also like the twitchy "back and fourth" movement he makes with his gloved hand.

I also liked the ending. It was better looking atleast than the original ending.

One thing I half liked was the question of Kruger's innocense. It would have given the remake an interesting edge, if it had made it that Krueger was innocent. Would have made the whole "he was burned outside of due procees = bad" more meaningfull. But of course it was ruined.

Things I didn't like? Most of the characters had different names, more drugs, 2D characters, total destruction of Nancy's mother's character in comparison to the original. Just pretty much everything else is ruined.

Over all, I am pretty sure the Hindi remake MAHAKAL is better, but this film is also ok. Just ok. Better than FREDDY'S DEAD.
