I finally broke down and did something I knew I was going to do sooner or later, I bought a small handful of toys.

Oh my god, Josh, I recently broke down and did the same thing! I haven't bought action figures in YEARS! Until recently, that is. I bought a bunch of the 25th Anniversary "GI JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO" figures and the new Mego-style retro STAR TREK figures. Nostalgia can be a strong force sometimes.

It sure can. But it makes me feel better that another grown man splurged on some toys so thanks. tongue-1

That's cool about the star trek mego-style figures. I always liked Mego figures and was able to hold onto a couple of them too, but they are pretty worn out. I have Batman, Supes, and Spiderman but the batman figure is especially in need of retirement, his outfit is torn in a couple spots and alot of the paint is rubbed off. But hey I still love the thing.

I used to have some of the superheroes Megos when I was a kid. Although they were hand-me-downs from my older brothers. I was born in '74 so I just missed the Mego wagon. The toys I most fondly remember growing up were Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, and Masters of the Universe. I really was a child of the 80's.

My current GI Joe figure collection is small, but growing. My girlfriend thinks it's funny and takes it all in stride.

Yeah I was born in 79 so my Mego's were hand me downs as well, I think they originally came from a flea market or garage sale. Besides super hero toys I was also big into Transformers, Star Wars and He-man.

I remember having a birthday and getting the Ewok village playset as a gift, but it was missing a couple small pieces, and my Father, being the way he was, insisted on taking it back. There was only one small problem with that- the thing was sold out and you couldn't find it anywhere. I remember driving all over town to different toy/department stores looking for another one but never did find it. Needless to say, as a kid I was rather upset. I think I eventually used the exchange to buy some other stuff because my Father refused t o keep looking for an ewok village but at the time I was heartbroken. Of course in retrospect it's kind of funny. I'll never forget all these toys we played with.

LOL...that's actually a great story. Did you know the Ewok Village playset was re-manufactured by Kenner for their "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" toyline back in 1991? Endor made a great substitute for Sherwood Forest, I guess.

That was the Kevin Costner movie, right? I think I remember that. That's pretty funny that they did that. I guess they figured kids would never notice or care since it was quite a few years later.

Wow, sorry for the slow response, Crow! Yes I did read SECRET INVASION and I'm really enjoying it. Is that really Captain America or just a Skrull fake? I'm hoping it's the real deal but I have serious doubts.

No problem man. This is a forum, everyone just posts at their convenience.

Secret Invasion 2 was a good bit of action. I thought it changed the pace pretty well. Bendis can get wordy a bit, so it's nice to see he can just go action movie every now and then.

I think Mockingbird and Hawkeye are the real deal with that revelation (it would just be a cheap moment if they both turned out to be Skrully). Cap, nah. They killed him well and he has no tie ins or affiliation with Secret Invasion in his series. They'll leave him dead if you ask me. Plus Mockingbird said "He has to be the real dead, Cap lead us here." Well no duh, he meant to lead you to Earth so you could "escape" with Skrulls and heroes mixed. They pulled a Star Wars on them and let them escape for a bigger plan. Ares kept commenting how the Savage Land fight was nothing more than a big distraction from the main fight (which it was). Which makes me wonder about Luke both opening the Skrull ship AND throwing the first punch of the fight despite Ares' logic... hmmm.

^Well, your knowledge of Marvel has me beat. I'm mainly a DC kid. Aside from Spider-Man's saga, I'm really not too familiar with the Marvel Universe. That said, I do agree that Mockingbird is the real deal.

Man it's been so long since I've followed the comic universe.

I was following the Ultimate Spiderman, but I was disenchanted by where the plot was going.

The devil comes into the plot?

Come on.

Here goes: A few pics of my recently acquired super hero figures. All the figures shown here are from a 1984 Mattel run called "Secret Wars" which was a companion line to the Secret Wars comic mini-series. This toyline produced a total of 16 figures.

Missing from the group photo are Daredevil and Baron Zemo...I picked up these figures as well but got them seperately, and haven't received them yet.

Missing from this collection are the following: Hobgoblin, Falcon, Constrictor, Iceman, and Electro.

Because of the fact that Constrictor, Iceman, and Electro were not released in the U.S., they are quite rare and go for quite a bit on Ebay, whether they are packaged or loose. I've seen these 3 figures sell for more than 50 bucks apiece so it's unlikely I'll ever pick these guys up.

Those are some really nice looking figures, Josh thumbs up

I expecially like the Iron Man figure, in which he's wearing the 1960's/1970's classic armor.

Question: who is the character in the black/purple outfit between Spidey and Wolverine? heyo
