***SPOILERS IN REVIEWS***

before I begin, I give Grievous (A Member from another forum) credit for the inspiration for my Review corner. Mr. Smiles

Anyway the first film Im reviewing is THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD!

Posted Image

The Character development

The Thing's hand design

The Special effects (Good for its time)

The Humor (While not that funny, it does put a smile on my face)

The film Editing (The films editing was done well)

The Score

How it combines Horror and Sci-fi nicely

The Thing's Intelligence

Posted Image

The Thing's Head design (Its far to similar to Boris Karloff's Frankenstein head design)

The Thing wearing clothing (why is a plant alien lifeform wearing clothing?)

The pacing in some parts was slow

As the characters fly over the Flying Saucer Crash zone, you can see a small black squarish-object at the far right of the screen on the ice (It looks like studio equipment)

My top 3 favorite scenes:

1: Death of The Thing

2: The Thing behind the closed door

3: The Flying Saucer blows up

My Favorite Tagline:

"Where Did It Come From? How Did It Get Here? WHAT IS IT?!"

My Favorite quote:

Ned "Scotty" Scott: "Watch the skies, everywhere! Keep looking.. Keep watching the skies!"

My Rating:

9/10

For my second review, I decided to review the film FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 6: JASON LIVES!

Posted Image

Jason's resurrection scene

Jason's un-masked look

The Score

The Characters were interesting and not boring

The Kills are rather creative

A good climax

Good special effects

Has some good humor in it

C.J. Graham did a good job as Jason

Connects to the previous films well

Posted Image

Jason's yellow gloves (They.. just dont fit what he is wearing)

While Jason is wearing his mask, the makeup looks a bit fake

In the daytime, Jason isnt as tall (I have heard that it was someone called "Dan Bradley" doing the scenes)

My top 3 favorite scenes:

1: The Death of Allen Hawes at the start (Jason's first kill in the movie)

2: The Death of Martin

3: Jason's resurrection at the start

My Favorite Tagline:

Nothing this evil ever dies

My Favorite quote:

Martin: [to his liquor bottle] "Darling, you're going to be the death of me. But what a lovely way to go, huh?"

[tosses the bottle behind him, Jason catches it and stabs Martin in the neck with it]

My Rating:

8/10 (Has a few flaws, but FT13TH part 6 is the first to be a Horror/Comedy and the first Zombie Jason, out of the Friday the 13th series, this is my favorite)

The Third Review is here, today's movie is THE GIANT BEHEMOTH!

Posted Image

The Brachiosaurus (Behemoth) is an interesting Monster.

Brachiosaurus's electric shock ability.

How the title monster is dieing from the radiation in its body.

That the film doesnt instantly show the title creature, it shows parts of its body at a time, before completely showing it.

Seeing People with horrible burns caused by the Behemoth.

When the Behemoth projects its electric shocks, it burns people mostly to a crisp, looks cool.

The Characters (I like them more then the one's from The Beast from 20,000 fathoms).

The Creature's first puppet head above the water scene (Has a nice dark feel there).

The Brachiosaurus London rampage.

The London setting.

The Score.

Seeing the Behemoth underneath the water

Posted Image

The Creature in some scenes looks poor.

The other appearances of the head puppet look very stiff.

Is far too similar to The Beast from 20,000 fathoms and the Original Godzilla.

Re-using a Car Crushing scene twice.

My top 3 favorite scenes:

1: During the Rampage through London, the Brachiosaurus attacks some power lines.

2: The Head puppet above water scene

3: The Brachiosaurus under the water scene (Near the end)

My Favorite Tagline:

The Biggest Thing Since Creation!

My Favorite quote:

Dr. Sampson, the Paleontologist: "Oh, it's heading for the Thames. They always made for the freshwater rivers to die. That's where their skeletons have been found - some irrestible instinct to die in the shallows that gave them birth. You know, all my life I hoped this would happen. Ever since childhood I expected it. I knew these creatures were alive somewhere, but I had no proof, scientific proof, and I had to keep it to myself, or my colleagues would have all laughed at me. See, no form of life ceases abruptly, and all those reports of sea serpents - well, what can they be?... The tall, graceful neck of paleosaurus. He can stay underneath the surface for an age, and now he comes to the top."

My Rating:

8/10 (A film with budget problems, but still delivers a fun monster film, directed by the same person who did The Beast from 20,000 fathoms, I prefer this film over TBF20,000F.)

Im back with a fourth review, now the fourth film Im reviewing is.. SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE!

Posted Image

Willem Dafoe (He counts as one whole good thing)

The Score

Basing this film on a legend (The Legend is that Max Schreck was in reality a vampire which is why he played the role of Orlok so well in the Original Nosferatu)

The Makeup on Willem Dafoe was good and makes he look very similar to what Max Schereck looked like in the count Orlok Makeup.

The acting is decent

The Actors/Actress look very similar to the actors/Actress that was in the 1922 film

Uses some footage from the 1922 Nosferatu (It really fits the film well)

The "filming" of scenes is rather close to the scenes from the 1922 film

Pacing moves at a good speed

The dry Dark humor (It took me sometime to find it funny)

Makes you wonder who if the Vampire or F.W. Murnau was the real monster

Uses techniques that was used in silent films

Posted Image

Near the end of the film, Murnau gives the actress (who is meant to sacrifice herself to kill Count Orlok) a Wooden stake, in the 1922 scene you cant see a stake

The Vampire Teeth that Willem Dafoe has, isnt at the right size

Every Night shot was filmed in broad daylight in the original 1922 film

My top 3 favorite scenes:

1: Death of the Vampire

2: The Vampire Answering on what he thought of the book - "Dracula"

3: F.W. Murnau instructing the Vampire, who is acting like he is dieing, after he is meant to be stabbed with the wooden stake in the film.

My Favorite Tagline:

(There are no taglines for this film, but here's one I made up) "F.W. Marnau hired an actor, who didnt just play the role... he lived it."

My Favorite quote from F.W Marnau:

[Instructing the Vampire on his death scene]

F.W. Murnau: "DIE YOU.. YOU F**KING RAT BASTARD, VAMPIRE PIG, SWINEL S**T, YES DIE ALONE!" (I cut out the rest, since it isnt as funny as this, also Im sure that this isnt 100% accurate, since there was no subtitles)

My favorite quote from the Vampire:

[Answering why the book "Dracula", made him sad]

The Vampire: "Dracula hasn't had servants in 400 years and then a man comes to his ancestral home, and he must convince him that he... that he is like the man. He has to feed him, when he himself hasn't eaten food in centuries. Can he even remember how to buy bread? How to select cheese and wine? And then he remembers the rest of it. How to prepare a meal, how to make a bed. He remembers his first glory, his armies, his retainers, and what he is reduced to. The loneliest part of the book comes... when the man accidentally sees Dracula setting his table."

My Rating:

8/10 (While it has its flaws, it still does a good job "What If Max Schreck was a real vampire in Nosferatu (1922), I recommend watching this film, but first watch the Original Nosferatu film, it might help you enjoy it more)

The fifth film Im reviewing is the original Japanese Version of GODZILLA 2000!

Posted Image

The Godzilla Suit (He looks mean and for the first time green)

The Orga Suit (I like the design of Orga, mostly the big hands, he is also worthy of been called as Arnold said in Predator: "Your One Ugly Mother F**ker", also IMO the Cloverfield Monster looks like it was a bit inspired by Orga)

The score (Takayuki Hattori score here was better then his Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla score IMO)

The Good CGI (While not as good as the Gamera 3 CGI, the CGI sometimes is good, like when Orga starts growing spikes near the end of the film)

The Gigantic UFO (I liked the design, attacks for it, also IMO the best UFO to appear in a G-Film)

Dark and Serious (I liked how it was dark and serious, While not terrible the the American Version of the film lightened it up and made the film more like the 60's/70's G-Films, which weakened it IMO)

The alien not looking like a human (I liked how the Alien didnt look like a human like the Xillian's in Godzilla: Final Wars and other G-films)

A new color for the Atomic Ray (While I prefer it Blue, it was good to see a change)

Posted Image

The bad CGI (Some of the CGI wasnt good, the scene when the Millennian's hand transforms into Orga's hand is an example of the CGI I dont like)

Godzilla not attacking the military with his atomic ray (I personally think Godzilla should have attacked them with his atomic ray after been hit by the Jet missiles)

The pacing (IMO the main flaw of the film)

The Monster Suits been a bit stiff (IMO they seemed a bit stiff in some scenes)

My top three favorite scenes:

1: The Death Of Orga (IMO was the best effect in the entire film)

2: Godzilla changes up his atomic ray for the first time (How Godzilla just stands there and charges up, with that score in the background made it IMO a great scene, sadly it was cut out in the American Version)

3: Godzilla appearing at the start of the film with the boat in his mouth

My favorite Tagline:

This year forget the Y2K bug... Prepeare for the G2K bug...

My favorite quote:

[Before getting killed by Godzilla]

Mitsuo Katagiri: "GOJIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

My rating:

7/10 (A film with more good things then bad, also a good start to the Millennium Godzilla series and IMO better then the American Version)

Thanks, sorry I took so long, but since Shadow Of The Vampire didnt get any replies on GS, I thought I would stop writing reviews for a while, but since I wanted to review Godzilla 2000 again, I decided to use my Review Corner style for it. topper

Also what would you give the American Version of Godzilla 2000?. heyo

I would rate it:

5/10, I personally find it watchable compared to other Americanized Godzilla films, also its inserted scores for some parts are pretty good. noddy

While I understand your sentiment here I want you to know I will always look over your submissions and read your stories, not always immediately but I will read them.

Posting stories does not, obviously, guarantee that they will be read. Even if they are not post them anyway. Continuing to write them is one way to improve yourself at making them. winky

I've only seen the American version of G2K, and I agree with Gojiramatthew's assessment of it. 5/10. I didn't know the Japanese version was that much of an improvement. But if it is, then that's good to hear.
