I loved the first scene with Kainan, where he first learns Nordic(English to us). He uses this machine that teaches him English in only a few seconds, and you can tell that it hurts like hell. The thing packs a punch. Kainan gets up with blood poring out of his nose and says, "Oooh f**k." It sounds a bit silly maybe, but Caviezel sells it and makes it feel like exactly what we would say. It's a great laugh moment in a mostly serious film.

Of course, after the action ended there was some great scenes with Kainan. I particularly liked the one where he's underwater with his wife's coffin.

I kind of wish the film hadn't felt like it had to kill off so many characters towards the end. They handled the deaths pretty well. But the movie felt a bit too empty at the end. All Kainan had left was Freya and Eric. And the rest of the tribe, but it didn't feel like a tribe with most of the best characters, like Rothgar, Boromir, and Wulfric out of the picture. They made you believe that Kainan cared a lot about Freya and Eric, but it would have been more believable that he would choose to stay for the rest of his life if maybe Wulfric had survived.
