This one has been in production for some time, but now some pics have made there way online on the 'Retromedia' message boards. It's a remake of the atomic age classic 1959 film by Bernard L. Kowalski. This new version is being done by b-movie master Brett Kelly. It looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun. Here's the official website: http://www.brettkelly.net/attackofthegiantleeches.html and a new scoop revealing the poster and some more pics: http://roberthood.net/blog/index.php/2008/...-giant-leeches/ Unfortunately there's no trailer just yet ,but it's coming very soon. Here's my exclusive interview: http://www.roberthood.net/reviews/intervie...tack-kelly.html B)

I read the interview. Interestingly enough, I just downloaded Attack Of The Giant Leeches(1959) on DVD-R(Divx-public domain) from Internet Archives.org.

I noticed some of the "fireballs" Mr. Kelly alluded to in one of the pics. Very nice. tongue-1

You know, Roger Corman's still around. I wonder what he'd think about this remake? heyo

Good question. I think he'd probably be proud of his fans now remaking his films. It looks like Brett is doing a good job with it. bravo clap

That can be understood, considering that most remakes suck!! This one might be an exception though. The original film is by no means a masterpiece. There's no huge fan base to offend and there's definitely room for improvement. :)

I personally find the work "Suck" a bit harsh on the remakes, "Are Terrible" is more fitting. ;)

Well "Attack Of The Giant Leeches" has got room for improvements. noddy

But I still dont truth remakes, after seeing Rob Zombie's Halloween remake (Which I re-Watched, it was better then second time, but I still dont like it), I dont think most directors have what it takes to make a good one.

I have to disagree with you here, Matthew. There are, to be sure, a lot of remakes that should have never happened, based on the quality(or lack thereof) of these remakes.
There are also, IMO, many movies that have been "remade" where the director incorporates some aspects of the original and adds different things into the mix, which results in an interesting movie: not liked by everyone no doubt but still something worth checking out and at least liked by some, who see fit to purchase the remake on DVD. Films like War Of The Worlds(2005), The Thing(1982), and The Fly(1986) immediately come to mind, directed by Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter and David Cronenberg, respectively. These three remakes are all decent "remakes", or re-imaginings, of original movies of the same name.

I'll say this: good remakes are, unfortunately, and IMO, the exception rather than the rule. ;)

True, of course I wasnt very impressed at Spielberg's War Of The Worlds remake, I would have put "The Blob" remake in that list. winky

What I wrote was a mistake, since I had to get to work in a couple of minutes, anyway what I was going to say was that most Directors today, not all, cant make a good remake IMO of course.
