I can tell...

Overall, I am a GINO hater... I rather have that cash be used to redo the SFX to 2001 Yonggary by Weta Studios...

Consider G2k that without the 1998 American Godzilla film, and the general unpopularity of this movie among G fans, Godzilla 2000(1999) might not have been made so quickly(within a year) after "GINO". topper

On a critical non-fanboy side of things, the film would have been better if not rushed. Plus, with no G2K, the rest of the Millenium series would not exist or the Atari games or the CM dvds and alot of other stuff...

Unfortunately, you have to be living in Japan to see them.

Godzilla in HD...why doesn't that sit well with me? All I can picture is being able to see wires, suit zippers and other items I rather not see in HD confuzed

If they hid them well enough for the original print, then it should be good enough on HD. The only films that should have that problem are the films that have that problem already (Megaguirus anyone?) Plus, during the remastering they could through CGI hid that stuff...

Good point, it does intrigue me to see the level of restoration/remastering that was done on the films.

^And there has been news of Toho doing SFX experamenting with Godzilla. Maybe it is a mistake, that the reportedly new goji film is just a redone CGI goji for certaint scene in the Millenium series and some scenes of the other...

There are, unfortunately, G2K, quite a few more G films besides Godzilla Vs Megaguirus(2000) where wires are clearly visible in many sequences, including Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster, Son Of Godzilla, and Destroy All Monsters, these three that immediately come to mind. winky

I was just naming an example. I did not intend to make it seem it was the only one. And they can still add in new CGI to thoes older films. They are doing that to the new Star Trek DVD releases of the original Shatner seriese

Jim Ballard, a contributing writer for Sci-Fi Japan, has authored an excellent article, with images, of Toho's efforts to restore every Godzilla film to HD(high definition) format. All of these movies recently aired in HD in Japan. To read this article click the link: http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2008/12/29/putting-godzilla-in-focus/

Again, Ballard has proven that he is resourceful. No doubt that when Ed Godzizewski and Steve Ryfle, among others, are gone that he shall take their place as a great Godzilla scholar.
