Here's the latest update on the reboot of the John Carpenter directed The Thing(1982): http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/17011

From the posted article, a reader comments:

come up with a NEW idea. yeah, The thing was a remake, but we don't need to remake a remake that is already perfect. ****

very funny

Most of the other comments regarding this article were negative. I share in their disdain. Thus far a "remake" which simply retells the 1982 film from the vantage point of the Norwegian science team seems pretty lame to me.

I agree. We already have the two definitive version of this film. A movie from the Norwegian's perspective really doesn't interest me at all.

Here's an update on John Carpenter's latest directorial effort, called The Ward: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/33362/more-cast-members-added-john-carpenters-the-ward

The "wiki" summary, thus far, about this film, which is tentatively scheduled for theatrical release sometime in 2010: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ward_%28film%29
