Hmm. I've never seen any Ultraman at all. If I get a chance I'll check out the series.

Start with the original series, which originally aired on TBS(Tokyo Broadcasting System) from 1966-1967. Here's the R1 DVD release of volume one of the original series, released by BCI(Eclipse): http://www.amazon.com/Ultraman-One-Vol-Earl-Hammond/dp/B000FKO42K

I would get the second volume also. winky

I would recommend Ultra Seven, the second Ultra series which many consider to be superior to the original. Sadly, the series isn't available outside of most Asian countries. Unless you go the bootleg route, of course.

So would I. Ultraseven(1967-1968) is a classic "Ultra" series I've enjoyed watching just about as much as the original Ultra series that preceded it.

As Dan mentioned, there's no R1 DVD set of Ultraseven. I've seen the R2 DVD set of this series for sale at Amazon Japan. I believe it's been offered for sale elsewhere. It's expensive. winky

Here's the Ultraseven DVD set for sale at Amazon Japan: http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/offer-listing/B000GH2WEO/ref=sr_1_olp_9?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1220788360&sr=1-9

In order to translate the page you would either need to download a freeware(or otherwise) program to translate Japanese to English or contact Amazon(or Amazon Japan) by phone for assistance in translation.

It is my supreme hope that someone buys the North American DVD(R1) rights to series like Ultraseven(1967-1968), The Return Of Ultraman(1971-1972) and Ultra Q(1966).

Ultraseven(1967-1968) can also be bought on VCD format from eThaiCD.com. Their are two volumes(10 VCDs in each volume) at $12.50 US dollars per volume: http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=22269

Your DVD player MUST be able to play VCDs, which have a VHS quality picture in most cases.

From what I've read about VCD playback in newer DVD players, it's fairly good but becomes more problematical in older DVD players. winky
