So, I was watching the Republican National Convention last night. I've gotta say that I'm totally impressed with Sarah Palin. She gave an amazing speech last night. She's got beauty, brains, and wit. I'm sold.

And hey, what's with these ridiculous protesters at the Convention yesterday? They're a group of anarchists that call themselves "The RNC Welcoming Committee." Over 100 of these lunatics were arrested yesterday. I mean, gimme a break. You can protest, that's your American right, but do so in an intelligent manner. Acting like hippy jackasses isn't going to do a damn thing for your "cause". Get a job.

I gotta say I'm still not too impressed by her words. She's McCain's answer to Obama: young, hip, trendy and very charismatic. McCain went from being my favorite republican to just another republican by engaging in this popularity contest. She might be the next greatest thing, I'm not disappointed or put off by her. More along the lines of disappointed that both of these candidates I started off liking either completely abandoned their former stance or didn't have much of a stance at all.

I'm definitely going to be watching her though. With what little information is on her, she need to define herself as something more than a hasty decision. I've already heard of Biden and liked him. I'll have to see her in action too to decide who I'm voting for. The VP has never weighed in on my mind this much until this election.

I'm not, at least yet anyway. I listened to parts of her speech and I liked some of the things I heard her say. I like the fact she's not, as she mentioned, part of the current political establishment. What I don't like is her lack of experience. I know this perceived vulnerability of hers has been beaten to death by the media but it remains, IMO, a justifiable concern. As it stands right now I would vote McCain-Palin. There's no way I cast my vote for Barack Obama. His veep running mate could be Jesus Christ and I would still not give Obama my vote. Any chance of that, and I admit there was probably some chance I would at least consider voting for Obama, went out the window when this elitist, arrogant jackass stated that middle and lower income Americans often rely on their religion and guns in tough times. Obama, as far as I'm concerned, can shove that Harvard diploma straight up his own ass.

Well, the thing with Palin is that she does appeal to the middle class. As for Obama, that man has NO leadership experience. At least Palin has been mayor, then Governor of Alaska. Still, it's shaping up to be an interesting presidential race. The debates will be compelling, that's for sure.

McCain's campaign staffers have been very critical of the media and their coverage of Sarah Palin's seventeen year old pregnant daughter, who is also not married. Opinions, gentlemen? Has the media been unfairly harsh about Palin's pregnant daughter? heyo

I have never been one to get into the personal life of the president and it annoys me that so many people hold that above the actual issues at hand. I don't care if Bill did mary jane and had and affair, I don't care that Bush got in trouble with cocaine, I don't care that Cheney has a lesbian daughter and I certainly don't care that Obama did drugs, McCain got a divorce and Palin's daughter has a baby.

I'm sure a lot of people would say "but it's hypocritical for them and their stance". Well yeah it is, but unless you've been blind to politics for the last 100 years, politicians are screwed up in the head. It's something you have to live with and to me the actual debates and issues are much more important than the celebrity angle of politics. I don't care what happens in their personal life and I don't care what happened decades ago. And it's that that has ruined our government I believe: the political celebrity fest it is. Granted, it's sad that you probably couldn't find a single "clean" presidential candidate with a pristine history, but when you're going out into that field EVERY mistake you have made since you were born will come out. Everyone makes mistakes, I'm more concerned about what they're doing now.

And this thing about her daughter is even crueler. It was her daughter's mistake, not hers. Sure she raised her but you can only do so much. I know some parents who were suburb parents, but their child still had premarital relations and had a child of their own. It'd be different if it were like Obama's drug usage or McCain's divorce but Palin didn't even do anything. I'm thinking they just can't find any other dirt on her due to the fact that she's so unknown.

Despite the fact that Palin has a pregnant teenage daughter, her family still looks like a caring and loving group. At least, that's the way it seems on TV.

It's kinda weird. Normally, when I vote in Presidential elections I usually go for the lesser of two "evils". But this time, I like both McCain and Obama. I think they're both good men who have our country's best interests at heart. I'm still undecided on who to vote for. I guess I'm leading toward McCain but I think they're both winners.

I agree with Crow here in that I care very little for things politicians did years ago or that their family members did, especially when it takes attention away from the issues at hand. I was slightly miffed about Bush's military career thing when you consider how much he demanded of our current military, but overall I'm really not concerned with Palin's daughter.

Josh, I believe Dubya skated his way out of military service in Vietnam because his old man pulled some strings. Based on that you can be sure I'm a lot more than slightly miffed about his decisions that have resulted in our prolonged involvement in a war we had no business waging and the resulting 4000+dead American servicemen and servicewomen.

Here's an interesting article about Sarah Palin, which touches on her governing style: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26691018

From the article:

Quote:

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she(Sarah Palin) appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as one of her qualifications for running the roughly $2 million agency
This smacks of cronyism to me. Nono

Quote:

When Ms. Palin had to cut her first state budget, she avoided the legion of frustrated legislators and mayors. Instead, she huddled with her budget director and her husband, Todd, an oil field worker who is not a state employee, and vetoed millions of dollars of legislative projects
Nono

Quote:

Throughout her political career, she has pursued vendettas, fired officials who crossed her and sometimes blurred the line between government and personal grievance, according to a review of public records and interviews with 60 Republican and Democratic legislators and local officials
Nono

My concerns about Sarah Palin as the VP of the United States have just become decidedly more acute.

^Yeah, there's definitely some negative things about her. As it stands right now, I'm actually leaning toward voting for OBAMA. I just think it's time for this country to change course and he just may be the right man for it.

The "Troopergate" situation regarding Sarah Palin and her stint as Alaska Governor continues to make news and not the kind the Republican party likes: http://news.aol.com/article/palins-husband-wont-testify-in-probe/176730?icid=100214839x1209612606x1200578413

I get the impression that there are some aspects of the "Troopergate" affair that Sarah Palin would like to see go away. If she indeed abused her power as Alaska governor, as this investigation is tasked with determining, then I would not vote for McCain-Palin in 2008.

If she winked or mentioned Alaska one more time I think I was going to puke. Also the "Say it ain't so Joe" made me almost change the channel.
