I read this thread and it made me think that mabye for my Nature themed Intergrated Art I could convince the teacher to show Godzilla vs Hedorah just as you wanted to have the original Gojira shown. I think that Gojira is more better than The Day After Tommorow, since it less violent and not as horrifying.

^Of course it is not as horrifying. It is MORE horrifing. Goji comming alive and killing people is more belivable than a 4 days ice age with bad acting.

Hmm what's more horrifying, people getting killed by Godzilla or people being reduced to skeletons by sulfuric acid created by a giant pile of living garbage named Hedorah?

Godzilla. You could get godzilla any day of the year. Hedorah only lived twice. If I was killed by Hedorah, I would have gone in a verry strange and unique way.

Update: Interesting results on kaiju phile:

Here's something Godzilla related you could present as a "paper" or other review: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gojirasaurus

I had no idea a dino species named "Gojirasaurus" existed. It looks a lot like a velociraptor.

Well, I knew. And quite frankly, this would have nothing to do to help my paper. When I wanted to have Gojira shown, I wanted it because of it's allegorical and scientific views. Still think it is the best paper I have written, though.

I tivo'd a show on the U of California's tv station of a guy giviving a lecture about Godzilla, about 4 years ago. It was pretty interesting. "classic" Movies like "Gojira", The Day the Earth Stood Still, have more to offer than just awesome sci fi movies. The "Hidden" meanings behind actions and characters are everywhere. I'm not sure if kids today can appreciate what everything in thse movies stand for. All they see is Toy tanks and a guy in a rubber suit. And that's sad

This post = Packmule bravo clap

I see that quite a bit as well, Yuri: younger fans who believe that monster suit actors and suitmation(and related miniature effects) automatically make a kaiju film subpar. Nono

This is interesting. My brother hated GMK when I showed it to him the first time. A week later, I had him watch BRINING GODZILLA DOWN TO SIZE and then watch GMK again, then he loved GMK...
