I think it's safe to say that blu-ray is here to stay. The price drops on blu-ray players helps also. The thing i'd like to see now is a little price drop on the blu-ray discs themselves. ($5 or so)

I'm with you there, Russ. I like Blu-Ray but with my current financial situation, paying more than 20 bucks for a single film is just out of the question. I'd like to see standard (non-special edition) new releases priced around 20 and older catalog titles priced around 10-15 apiece. These kinds of prices can sometimes be found on sites like Amazon, but stores like Best Buy are still charging too much for older catalog titles.

I agree Josh, the best place to get movies is going to be online since well you basically cut out the middle man.

Has anyone else noticed that prices on a number of Blu-Ray titles are being released with the price of $19.96-$19.99? I mean, I bought Star Trek, Transformers 2, and G.I. Joe each for $19.96. (the same average price of most DVD's) If these titles were released last year, the price of them almost certainly would've been between $25-$30. Looks like we got our wish. Slowly, but surely, the price of BD's are coming down.

I was noticing this as well. It makes the decision between buying the standard DVD and Blu-Ray versions a whole lot easier. The price difference used to often cause me to not buy Blu-Rays unless they were "favorite" films- now that the gap has closed somewhat I think I'll see a lot more of these in my collection.

Before if I knew I was going to buy a movie I'd buy it on Blu-Ray as long as it wasn't a comedy with the exception of comedies like Land of the Lost or Tropic Thunder. I bought Forgetting Sarah Marshall on Blu-ray just because I couldn't find the SE DVD.

To me Comedies just don't justify the extra cost for a BD however with prices coming down I'll most likely buy all movies on Blu-Ray.

Good point, gvamp...the lack of special effects and choreography in most comedies make them a little less effective in touting the visual prowess of a blu-ray disc.
