The current forum banner was created by member Gojira2000, who is also working on 1) enlarging current image and 2) another(more complicated) banner. I would like to personally thank you for the current banner image, and for all the work you continue to put in towards the next. If other members have banners they would like to submit for consideration please feel free to do so here. The image size should be in the 793x426 pixels size or thereabouts :)

I have installed a new forum banner, which was made by member Legionmaster. My thanks to you sir for this banner. He has also made another, which will be used down the line. If anyone else has any banner submission please feel free to post your submissions here. I would like to be able to rotate these banners in/out every few months so any banner artists send them in. Thanks! :D

Today I have had a Skin Selector added to the board, with the help of Invisionfree Skin Zone support staff. They were very helpful and have my gratitude for the assistance. :)

I have added a scrolling "Welcome" bar that I will also use for any alerts or important announcements. Coming soon: new banner(s) and some more emoticons. :)

3/10/06: added a scrolling mini-news/announcement bar and another emoticon.
3/11/06: added a clock with date and time which is located at the very bottom of the page

Monsterland Forums is almost seven weeks old. There are currently 26 registered members and we are approaching 900 posts. To date I have added to the site: a skin changer, a clock(you can see it at the bottom of the page), and two scrolling bars, one for Welcome messages and the other for Important announcements e.g. DVD releases and similar. -----By the end of the month I hope to have the Toho, Tsuburaya, and Daiei film archives filled in, to serve as a reference for members here when discussing these films. In addition, other items coming next month(April): 1. a complete list of episodes for the original Ultraman TV series(1966), including the title of the episode and the featured alien/monster. 2. a new forum banner-I am going to invest in some software and make some eye-catching banners for the site, which will be rotated in/out periodically. 3. An affiliates scrolling bar or affiliates links-one of the two, as it will depend on the codes(some codes are twitchy about working right after being installed)-the affiliates link will allow members on this site to click various links to other sites, e.g. other kaiju discussion sites, or merchandising vendors like Amazon.com or one of my favorites, DeepDiscountDVD.co. 4. Miscellaneous-I will be exploring the option of adding music to this board-also an arcade-these two options are possibilities right now for May or June of this year. As always I am open to suggestions, criticisms, and any comments from all members. Please use the "Comments/suggestions" thread at the top of the site. I would like to thank everyone who has registered here, active and less active members alike. There is more to come here at Monsterland. I promise. :)

To date I have made the following changes to this site:

  • 1. Installed a scrolling "Welcome" bar(under banner)(works for all browsers)
  • 2. Installed a scrolling "News/Announcements" bar in the header(works for all browsers)
  • 3. Installed a clock in the footer(bottom) of the board-it also displays the date(works for all browsers)
  • 4. Installed a "Welcome" tab and a scrolling "affiliates"(site names and URLS) at the bottom of the board(will work for Mozilla browsers only)
  • 5. Just added two(2) more links along the "Top 10 posters" strip(towards the bottom of the site)-"Yahoo" and "MSN", either of which will, when clicked, link you to that respective site home page(will work for Mozilla browsers only)
I have tried to make a few other minor changes to this site without success. I have also noticed that the IE6 browser will not correctly display some of the changes I have made, specifically the "Welcome" tab and "scrolling affiliates" bar at the bottom of the page. So far the Mozilla browser(which is my default browser) appears to display all of my site changes correctly. --------I am leaving this topic open for user posts and comments, and you may make inquiries(or complaints) about any site changes here. Or you may use the "Comments/Suggestions" thread. Either is fine. As I have mentioned before, I am planning on adding music to this site-initially it will be a simple link to play a tune, which I will change on a regular(per week) basis. A "jukebox" for this site is a definite possibility, for June or July of this year. I will, as always, strive to correct any problems of a tech nature involving any registered member, however, the "browser" problem mentioned earlier(displaying the site changes) is one that I probably cannot do much about, at present. :)

late edit: I have installed a code that disables the "thumbail" function in posts, enabling the true size of image(will work for Mozilla browsers only)
I have installed a search engine on the site("All The Web") that will work for IE6 browsers, and may/may not work for Mozilla confused
I have installed a simple "Good morning/Good Day" greeting below the banner by the search engine(will work for IE browsers)
On 4-11-06 I installed a "recommended sites" scroll bar(the bar will stop on "mouseover" and restart on "mouseout")

On 5/8/06 I added a link to "Google"-look for it beside the "Yahoo" amd "MSN" links on the Top 10 Posters line of the site, towards the bottom. This link appears to work with the Mozilla browser only.

On 5/7/06 I added(with the valuable assistance of "Paulo" from the Invisionfree Skin Zone site) an arcade(games). The link, SD Arcade 1.2, is located near the top of the page, adjacent to the "Portal" link. (should work with all browsers)

On 5/13/06 I added an "Add This Site To Your Favorites" link-if you are using IE6 or IE7 browser you must "left" click the link. If you are using Mozilla Firefox you must "right" click the link(open a link) in order for it to work.

On 6/2/06 I added some more links on the "Top 10 Posters" line towards the bottom of the main index page- AMC, TCM, Henshin Online, Planet X Forums, MGM and Veoh(will display with Mozilla Firefox browser only)

Also, on 6/2/06 I removed about five of the invisionfree bland yellow emoticons and replaced them with about a dozen more differing, and I think, more interesting, emotes

June 7, 2006-I added an iNetbb.net image hosting feature, which enables the member browsing this site to upload and host an image without opening another window to access Photobucket or Imageshack-kind of a "shortcut". This feature's server may, from time to time, undergo maintenance and experience some "downtime", as I was told by the iNetbb staff. :)

June 28, 2006-I added a "Top X Statistics v2.0" to the board header(near the top of the page under the banner)-currently showing top five posters. This might be modified by me periodically.

I have begun posting kaiju-related events in the calendar option of this site. To access the site's calendar click on the "Calendar" option at the top right of the main page under the forum banner. Posted info will include DVD release dates, kaiju TV alerts, and other related things. There are already some updates for the month of August, September, and October of this year. I will strive to post updates in the calendar as quickly, and accurately, as possible. :)

Latest changes to the site: I have deleted the "Add site to favorites" link. Considering that any browsing member(or non-member) has their own "bookmarking" capability on their PC this feature seemed a bit redundant, and was using up BOARD WRAPPER space needlessly. I also removed the bottom, red colored "Recommended sites" scrollbar: I can install a "pinned" topic with these links on the main page, and without using up valuable BOARD WRAPPER space. Just installed: a topic "marker" by which members can "flag" their favorite(s) topics. Enter a forum and look to the far left. You will see a flag image to the right of the IPB symbol. You can click the "flag" to mark/unmark the respective topic. Here is a brief description of this modification and an important note aboit it's use of cookies:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By placing this code on your board, every user on your board will have the ability to "flag" topics on your board. That is, they can mark the topic which they feel are intresting and they can view the markings at any later time. This code is easy and customizable.

Click on the flags to toggle whether or not you want to mark that topic.

Note:

The code uses cookies. Therefore, the information of which topic is marked is not stored per user, but in your browser. So, if you switch browsers or PCs or if you delete cookies on your board, your flags may not be available.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If any member here cannot use this feature, or if you have any more questions about it, please email me at packmule84@yahoo.com(the site's official email address) or PM me. If I cannot answer your question, or fix the problem, I will contact the individual who created this mod. :)

In the last several months Monsterland Forums and another site I regularly participate in, It Came from Planet X, have both been the recipients of numerous spambot and other program-generated member registrations. In an effort to keep these "bots" and other computer-program generated riff-raff out of this site I would like to inform those that register here at Monsterland Forums that I will contact you by email after you register, asking you to reply by email to me so I know you're a real person and not a bot. I will allow one(1) week from the time of a registration to a reply by email back to me. If I get no reply then I will be forced to delete the registration. Some of these bots may be harmful to this site, from a security perspective, and I don't want to take a chance compromising the security of Monsterland Forums. Thank you in advance, to all of those(real people that is tongue-1 ) for complying with my request.

Sincerely, Lee "Packmule" Merritt :)

I have just deleted the latest member registration, "abudifm". When I attempted to email this person regarding his registration I was notified that "abudifm's" email address was invalid, and my email was non-deliverable. This is a good example of a spammer in action, or perhaps a spambot, and this is why I have decided that anyone registering here must reply back to me by email-no email response from a registree tells me that either this is a spammer or a spambot.

I have just installed(via admin CP) a small code developed by a member at the Invisionfree Skin Zone website that supposedly will catch spambots trying to register at this site. There are, according to this member, no "bugs" in this code, and it works normally with IE, Mozilla, and Opera browsers.

I have deleted another "spambot" generated registration-this site averages about one per week. The actions of these bots are probably related to the fact that I have added this domain(and previous site URL) to more than a dozen internet search engines, and also to two(2) listings of tops sites related to our theme(horror/sci-fi/monsters).

I am going to be starting up a Yahoo-hosted website called Monsterland
either Monday or Tuesday, 1/29 or 1/30/07. This page will include links to this site and to "Planet X". I will provide another update on this in a day or two. Stay tuned.

I have published my starter main page, called Monsterland, to the internet. The site is very basic right now, and includes some links. I will be changing, and adding features to it in the next two weeks as time permits. The changes will not happen quickly, as I am still not very accomplished at HTML, or Photoshop. The starter page URL: www.monsterlandforums.com. This site is listed in Yahoo and a Yahoo search engine would find it. As for other search engines like Google and Lycos this site will probably find its way into their respective databases within a few weeks or a month.

To see this page(and bookmark it tongue-1 ) click this link: Monsterland

This site is currently under construction. smiling jackass
